Okay, it's been a hard week. The Twins are standing on the precipice of a sucking-time, the Bitch Sox stubbornly refuse to have a nice fifteen-game losing streak, and someone stole Johan Santana's mojo. What we needed today, more than anything, was a good pitching performance. Well, we got four of them; Messers Chocula, Berry, and The-Crain-Train just shone out of the bullpen, reitring nine straight, but more importantly, our starter, Mr. Kyle Lohse took the ball and said, "Hello, Ball. Tonight I will throw you with confidence, grace, and a dash of kickass." Aided by a few well-timed double plays (and clearly channeling the Jackal) Lohse pitched six innings, allowing just two runs. Yes, he got into trouble sometimes, and yes he walked two batters and both came around to score, but Lohse never lost his composure, and he let the Twins win the game. A quality start—just what the doctor (not to mention the Doctor) ordered—and that makes you, Kyle Lohse, the Boyfriend of the Day.

KYLE!!!
Posted by: bubblemint at May 18, 2005 09:31 PMvery well-deserved!
thank you, Kyle, for not allowing Lyle to take over! he tried, but you proved much stronger today. good show, old boy!
Posted by: kafumbly at May 18, 2005 09:31 PMWell deserved for Kyle!
At least for today, Lyle was cast into the dungeon.
OT: For those who are coming up with the great Twins computer games, a suggestion: how about a Matty LeCroy crawdad fishing game???
Posted by: talldrinkowater at May 18, 2005 09:32 PMYou don't think maybe Kyle "borrowed" Johan's mojo do you? Or maybe Lyle conspired with Koskos to score just a little of it??
I just hope Cordel remembers to give it back before he leaves town...
Posted by: bubblemint at May 18, 2005 09:34 PMyay! Jesse Crain got the #5 Web Gem for his awesome catch!
Posted by: kafumbly at May 18, 2005 10:29 PMLyle wasn't able to pitch tonight because he pitched for Johan yesterday...

Lyle has left the building, and Kyle was left on his own tonight. He has to be delighted with all this attention from BG. Maybe he will produce again knowing there is a chance to make BOD
You know, it has been pretty much Kyle since the game when he left with the "injury", which we all know was an exorcism.
Congrats, Kyle!! :)
Posted by: Stacy at May 18, 2005 10:51 PMYAY KYLE...
I have to give props to Cuddy tonight too! I believe he ate his Wheaties before the game!!
I think Cuddy needs to go visit his family more often, and maybe his mom needs to kiss everyone on the cheek! If it worked for Cuddy, maybe it will work for everyone...
Oh yeah, no backtalk on BOD... Lohse pitched well, maybe Kyle finally triumphed in the battle of good vs. evil.
LMAO..good call!
Posted by: Mic at May 19, 2005 08:31 AMI agree completely. I didn't get to watch the game, but this is closer to the Lohse that I remember being such a bright spot two seasons ago. I'd love to see him keep it up.
Posted by: Skorch at May 19, 2005 08:40 AMYay Kyle! I have always liked Kyle and believe he has talent. I really hope he gained some confidence and keeps his head this season.

Lohse is BOD? Isn't that the third sign of the Apocalypse??
Like some others, I've suffered with Kyle and his problems with Lyle, remembering the great potential I saw in early 2003. I enjoyed the Lyle connection, but there was always a small pain for Kyle when he went through not-good times last year. I was so happy for this performance! And I can't even complain that Batgirl didn't pick my boyfriend (DJ Cuddles) tonight. Kyle is worthy of this honor (and Dan Gladden thought long and hard and awarded Michael the Star of the Game over Kyle, so I'm content).
