How did YOU celebrate Justin Morneau's birthday yesterday? Batlings Suzy and Theresa send this lovely photo of their own party. And look, Bobblehead Dougie came!
I celebrated by baking cookies. OK, it was more because I was feeling guilty for promising someone cookies in exchange for fixing something on my car a few weeks ago, but I still baked cookies on the Doctor's birthday, and I haven't baked any cookies since my own birthday.
Posted by: ndtf at May 16, 2005 10:56 AMI wore my Justin Morneau Boyfriend shirt to work and wore it proudly! And made sure that everyone in the building was informed that it was the doc's bday! Happy 24th...we are now the same age!!!
Posted by: Mic at May 16, 2005 11:03 AMI ate TWO brownies. That's huge, 'cuz normally I don't eat brownies at all. But I had TWO.
Kind of lame, but it's all I got.

Posted by: k-bro at May 16, 2005 11:08 AMHow was the shindig at Hotel Joe? Did anyone go? I was going to, but decided to stay home with my cats instead.
Ha ha.
Posted by: Say Rah! at May 16, 2005 11:19 AMI thought about going to the party, but it would have been nearly impossible for me to get home in time for work this morning.
Posted by: ndtf at May 16, 2005 11:25 AMTumbleweed went to the party and had a great time. not sure if she took pictures... I'll ask when I get home. ;)
I celebrated Doc's birthday by going to the game and springing for the GOOD nachos from the Cantina. yummy.
Posted by: kafumbly at May 16, 2005 11:31 AMI made a run for the border, but it was the southern one, not the northern one as it should have been.
I will try to be more thematically appropriate on the the next Twin birthday*, which is J. Ro's (June 4).
*Using the 25-man roster.
Posted by: QJW at May 16, 2005 11:36 AMBatlings Candace, Sam, and Stacy celebrated by going to the game with a sign that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JUSTIN and a Canadian Flag and proceeded to yell Happy Birthday to him between innings and get a SMILE *gasp* and a wave from Justin.
Posted by: Stacy at May 16, 2005 12:14 PMYours truly celebrated by seeing a movie (HHGTTG) and taking a nap.
Time for another YankMedia roundup BG :)

Posted by: YankeeFan at May 16, 2005 12:44 PMWell, on the Good Doctor's birthday, my in-laws took us out to Outback Steakhouse to celebrate my *wife's* birthday (which was on Saturday.)
I don't what's weirder -- that last night was the first time in like a billion opportunities that I've ordered a steak at Outback (and it was good!) or the fact that my wife is almost exactly 2 years older than the Twins' premiere slugger.
Posted by: Salt-Man Z at May 16, 2005 12:58 PMI had a very up and down experience at the HHH Dome yesterday... =|
Me and my fiancee met up with some friends in the early morning to get in line for our Bobblehead. We bought our tickets and stood in line, and when it came our time to get our bobblehead the security gaurd said we can't because our tickets had the wrong date on them!! The freeking ticket lady even asked if we wanted tickets for todays game, and still screwed up!!! =(
So we had to go back and get new tickets, and told her that we're not going to get a bobblehead because of her screw-up and she basically said theres nothing I can do but give you new tickets for the correct game, and hope you get back to the gate in time... which we didn't because she took so freeeking long to get the new tickets printed.
Now... both my fiancee and I are all-american sprinters, but not even us could get to a different gate in time for a bobblehead. I kept having to slow down because her tiny legs couldn't keep up with mine because I was determinned to get a bobblehead. But to no prevail we had at other gates.
So we went back to our original gate were the security gaurd told us we needed new tickets and asked him if there was anything he could do since we got screwed out of a bobblehead and WERE going to get one if the st00pid ticket lady gave us tickets for the game that was going to get played that day. =(
The nice security guard then got on his walkie talkie and radioed to see if any gates had any trace of Dbl-J Bheads. He then walked us over to gate G and took us through a side door past the line of people waiting to get through to the absolute LAST box of bobbleheads, and took two fresh sealed Bobbleheads from the box and handed them to us. It was a miracle!! My fiancee and I were amazed that we got one after that whole fiasco, and we promptly expressed our extreme gratitude to that security gaurd. I never caught his name but I hope he knows he made three peoples days since one of the bobbleheads was going to my Grandma who goes to few games now since she's less mobile.
And then we got to see a Twins victory!! What a day...
Posted by: Thart at May 16, 2005 01:48 PMJustin,
My list of birthday wishes for you this year. May you always hit homers with runners on base, may your OPS continue to be the envy of the league. May your batting average never dip below .350 and lastly I wish your glove to magnetically draw into it even the most ridiculous throws they send your way. On a more personal note, I wish upon you, time to relax and catch some Walldogs up north (I would even offer up my Kent Hrbek Rapala Fishing Lure. Stop by anytime and pick it up), and lastly, since you seem to be insistent that you can indeed grow facial hair, I wish for you the ability to actually grow facial hair.
I hope you had the happiest of birthdays Pumpkin!
Love,
HooliganKat
p.s. I’m really sorry the Czech’s shut out Canada in the Championships, that was a tough loss, but really Jagr is an animal and well, you guys always win, so it’s nice to let others win sometimes.

I am really missing the NHL playoffs that should be happening right now and it was great to see hockey this weekend. Now fire Bettman and fix the game that he has broken
Posted by: mike at May 16, 2005 02:55 PMI celebrated the Doctor's birthday by passing out on my couch due to a nasty hangover (we started celebrating the night before). I came to every so often to the sounds of Dick Bremer's energetic, but sometimes overly exuberant commentary. Thank God for Brem-dogg, or I would have missed Stewie's three run shot.
Ugh, shots.
Posted by: Brienne at May 16, 2005 03:00 PMI knew there was a reason I made that cake yesterday.
Posted by: Redbird at May 16, 2005 03:12 PMHooliganKat,
Jaromir Jagr is a big crying baby.
then again, so is Ryan Smyth.
thank goodness Dr. Morneau is not.
sincerely,

Posted by: kafumbly at May 16, 2005 03:15 PMI celebrated with cheesecake after lunch AND ice cream after dinner. Of course, we have cheesecake after lunch every day, but still, i had it, so it counts! And i layed out on my trailer enjoying 115 beautiful iraqi degrees (ok, its damn hot over here, and its not even the "hot season" yet) but i'll take 115 over ass-cold and snow in May any day...
Posted by: Tinger at May 16, 2005 03:19 PMHow come there was no recognition for Mike Redmond's Bday on May 5th? happy belated bday Mike:) !!
Posted by: Mic at May 16, 2005 03:35 PMMic-
It was Cupcake Day and Radke pitched a 3-hit shutout. We all celebrated!
I'll admit it--I didn't celebrate the Doctor's birthday.
That's only because I was exhausted and flying back from New York State, where a wildly successful surprise party was held for my brother's 30th birthday.
Seriously, we had the boy *in tears*. And not just from the Jell-O shots...
kafumbly,
There are my horrible proofreading skills again, I meant "was an animal" not "is an animal". He had a couple key plays in the game yesterday, that proved important in their win.
proofreaderlessly,
HooliganKat
I marked the ocassion by taking a friend out for lunch to mark his birthday as well to the Chatterbox Pub in Minneapolis. Sadly, it was too crowded to get in some Atari 2600 action. Still, my friend thinks he can still beat "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in under 20 minutes and I'm eager to see him try.
Posted by: Skorch at May 16, 2005 04:09 PMI was horribly unaware of it being Dr. Morneau's birthday yesterday *gasp*, but it WAS my puppy's birthday as well, so I at least sang--even if it was for my dog. If I had known, I certainly would have thrown myself a nice little party by baking cake and watching all the movies that involve Canada in any way. (After the baseball game was over, of course.) I also would have been extremely obnoxious, calling up every single one of my friends and announcing that it was Justin Morneau's birthday, which would have frightened all but one of them since they have no idea who he is. *sigh* Sometimes I forget that people like that still exist. . .
Posted by: Webster at May 16, 2005 04:12 PMDear YankeeFan,
Hey, I said I wasn't writing the obituary. I'm starting to believe they were slumping just to give themselves more of a challenge.
Love,
BG
yes, yes, Batgirl... perhaps another YankMedia roundup will change their luck again, and they'll go back to sucking.
sorry, YankeeFan, but I just can't bring myself to have any love for your team. :)
Posted by: kafumbly at May 16, 2005 04:46 PMIf a media roundup is all it takes to change a team's luck, how about a Bitch Sox media roundup?
Posted by: ndtf at May 16, 2005 04:51 PMMy Brad Radke Boyfriend t-shirt came! *much rejoicing*
I think it might be the very last one, too. One day, when Legovision Park is built and BatGirl is making a tidy sum as the official press secretary of the Twins following their six consecutive world championships, I shall frame this shirt and tell my grandchildren how I had one of the original Boyfriend shirts, before MLB started being bastards about the whole thing.
*sighs happily*
Posted by: CarrieIC at May 16, 2005 05:21 PMI celebrated by baking oatmeal chocolate chip cookie bars. Then I went and played hockey and scored two goals! The Canuckian power of Morneau was definitely within me.
It's always nice to win the game before a day off. Otherwise I'm just all out of whack for, like, 48 hours!
Posted by: sacky at May 16, 2005 06:10 PMHey, it is almost as good as cupcake day!
Nice to see Dougie Defense was able to show up!
Posted by: talldrinkowater at May 16, 2005 07:23 PManyone wathing the bitchsox on espn? they were saying the Rangers thougt the Metrodome turf was too soft
Posted by: sacotty dawg at May 16, 2005 08:18 PMsacotty,
I'm following through Gameday. I'm happy that A.J. hit a grand slam, but I'm happier that the Rangers came back to take the lead.
It's currently 6-4 Texas in the bottom of the fourth...
MK
Posted by: mk at May 16, 2005 08:33 PMI'm watching, sacotty, but I missed that part. Did they elaborate at all?
Posted by: Nick at May 16, 2005 08:34 PMThe real El Dookie is making an appearance finally...
Posted by: Eric at May 16, 2005 08:39 PMEric,
You mean *made*. His line:
2-2/3 - 7 - 6 - 6 - 4 - 2
Ouch.

Posted by: mk at May 16, 2005 08:54 PMArgh, this shouldn't bother me but it does. Why are the Bitch Sox always playing teams the Twins have just battled? Seems like they are poaching.
Glad to see AJ get a grand slam. More glad to see the Rangers quickly reclaim the lead. Let's hope it stays that way.
Oh, another fhine wine. Last year the Bitch Sox were three or four games ahead of the Twins in games played until late August or September sometime. Why again this year with tonight's game are the Bitch Sox ahead by three games played? Seems like they get to sprint ahead on that scheduling quirk alone.
Is this what is it like to have a case of the Mondays?
Posted by: jekyll at May 16, 2005 09:29 PMI guess Game Day on Crappy Dial-Up isn't so bad after all. Cannot watch video live, but this is OK.
6-5 Rangers, bottom of the 8th just starting.
Ground rule double for Texas in the top but they failed to score. Don't know what happened except there's a note about fan interference.
At US Cellular? Can you imagine such a thing?
Posted by: QJW at May 16, 2005 09:42 PMOne of the ESPN announcers just called Harrelson (sp?) a "great announcer." Good Lord. This may be a sign of the apocalypse.
Posted by: Nick at May 16, 2005 09:46 PMSonofab*tchsox. They just tied it up.
Posted by: QJW at May 16, 2005 09:49 PMHarrelson a great announcer? I'm going to be sick now.
Posted by: Attyfan at May 16, 2005 09:54 PMI was too, Attyfan, but then Mench hit a homer. Now we'll see if the Ranger bullpen can hold it.
Posted by: Nick at May 16, 2005 09:58 PMThe Bitch Sox lost, so we are now only 4.5 games back now!
Posted by: talldrinkowater at May 16, 2005 10:12 PMNo need for a media round-up for the bitch sox, their luck is changing without need for outside assistance.
The streak is at three. If it weren't for AJ, they'd have no offense at all.
This is just a matter of time. Patience.
Posted by: Franorama at May 16, 2005 10:15 PMwooooo! what a party! click my name for a picture from Hotel Joe. (well, from the patio of Hotel Joe.)
Happy Birthday, Doc!
and go, Texas!
Posted by: Tumbleweed at May 16, 2005 10:56 PMLooks like Morneau got another present from his pals in Texas...currently visiting Chicago.
Man that was a fun game to watch. Same kinda of bad mojo from these annoucers.
While talking about the excellent hitting coach for Texas, the three Texas batters went 1-2-3 on strikeouts.
While talking about their fantastic small ball, Chicago took the lead and later tied on homeruns. (Not so much bad mojo...but still funny)
While talking about the depth of the starting rotation...well we know what happened to Chicago there.
While talking about the strength of the bullpen. Mench hits his SECOND homerun for the win.
Wooo!
Posted by: Torhu at May 16, 2005 11:09 PMDear Franorama,
I have been working on my directed dreaming against the Sox. I believe it may qualify as outside assistance.
