I have to agree here. As much as the Good Dr played exactly as we would wish him to play today, that level of exemplariness (is that a word) is only highlighted because so many of our boys were distinctly playing below standard.

Sometimes Luck and Timing are on the side of a particular batter that brings them up to the play that turned the game. Today, they were in Lew's pocket.

We work, but frankly, working wasn't much fun, and no one was paying attention anyway. So GameChannel and BatGirl were on the laptop instead of Excel and database conversions. And I feel no shame, you hear? No shame!

As he is my boyfriend, I did have to feel sorry for Cuddles--he finally gets a hit in a game, and the next day he has to sit and think about what he's done. And for a guy who was 0 for 3bazilllion going into last night, he'd scored a surprising number of runs (not a lot--just surprising for a guy with a batting average less than his weight).

At any rate, Lewww has managed to steal hearts of many an unsuspecting fan since he was called up to fill in for Torii last April. Well-deserved honors. And JustIncredible can just go to Brad "No one scores runs for me!" Radke for comfort in having his honor ripped away in the top of the eleventh.

I will be at the game Saturday night (because that was the e-Saver deal). I haven't seen the Twins lose in the regular season since at least 2003. Of course, that could be because last year I made a point of getting to as many of Santana's home starts as possible.

Ok, I'm not cool with keeping Corky at the expense of Tiffee. I'm also less than enthusiastic about Rivas at 2nd but I'm not sure that Punto is the long term answer, durability questions and all. But, I have to admit all this Cuddyer hating is really getting to me. No one hated on Koskie when he was in a slump. Or Dougie, either. Let's cut Cuddyer some slack. i'm with mmmarkiep about cuddyer. let's remember that DEREK JETER was batting about .100 this time last year. now, i despise the yankees with the intensity of a million burning hot suns, but derek jeter has my respect. i digress. my point is that even superstars go through slumps. dj will be fine.

as far as rivas is concerned, i have my theory: gardy wants terry's greatness to be concealed by hiding him in aaa until late in the year. by doing so, he springs him on the league, ensuring that tiffee comes through large in the postseason. ok, maybe not. i have no idea why luis rivas is still in the major leagues.

My guess is that the Twins don't want to give up on Rivas just yet. I mean, the kid has the potential, but he just doesn't have the heart, in my opinion. I guess they want to give him the chance to play up to his promise. Or maybe they're hoping he'll show just enough something so that they can salvage a prospect or two from someone when they trade him. I don't know. I do know that for all the promise he's shown, he hasn't shown the desire to play up to his capabilities and that's truly sad.

So many boyfriends, so little time.

You know, even though Cuddy is a terrible hitter, and not a very good third baseman, we almost lost this game because he wasn't playing. So I guess I have to give him that much...

So if we win all our games against the Royals and play .500 ball against everybody else, we will end up with 90 wins, which should be good for first place in the Central Division.
