Today's game has been called off due to SNOW and will be made up Monday at 1:05. To pass the time until then I suggest playing Twins Picture Shuffle.

Morneau suggested the Twins and Tigers could settle their games with a snowball fight.

"It's still better than playing in Florida," said the native Canadian. "This is my kind of weather here. It's just like being at home."

-From today's Twins notes

How about they just decide the game with a snowball fight? Would that be so wrong?

Posted by: ndtf at April 23, 2005 10:53 AM

I like us in that battle.

Posted by: Batgirl at April 23, 2005 10:56 AM

Cancelled ?! Come on! It's just snow! The pitchers get to blow on their hands and everything! What would Twig think ??? (He lost an outfield ball in the snow once in Spring Training)
Figures they'd live in a place nicknamed 'The Mitten'...

Posted by: Canocorn at April 23, 2005 11:28 AM

Postponed means cancelled for today, right? Is there a chance that it could still be played an hour late or something? Does it make sense to check back later? Thanks.

Posted by: gopher38 at April 23, 2005 11:50 AM

Dear Mr./Ms. 38,

Alas, it is cancelled for today, yes.

Forlornly,
BG

Posted by: Batgirl at April 23, 2005 11:57 AM

It'll be played later, like monday later. So today the guys will go to the Casino and exercise their arms.

Rats. Til tomorrow.

I'm writing a horrible horrible script for my blog for the Twins vs. Tigers snowball fight. The first half is done and I would post it, but things get screwed up when I post on this computer so I will be waiting until I can get onto a different computer.

Tim, I can't wait to read about the snowball fight.

-----------

No kidding. This winter I didn't get mail one week because we got a few inches of snow that I hadn't bothered to shovel off the walkway. I don't expect my postal carrier to wade up to his neck through a snowdrift or anything, but a few inches on my walk? OK, I was being lazy, but it didn't seem so treacherous to me. And I didn't find out why the mail wasn't coming until the snow had melted away and the postman finally slipped a notice through my mailslot that essentially said 'shovel your walk or no mail for you.'

I was tempted to tape the Postman's Credo above the slot in response, but I was more afraid of provoking his retaliation. You really don't want to make a postal employee angry, right?

Anyway, sucks about the cancellation today. If the taxpayers of Detroit had the sensible foresight to build a modern domed stadium like ours to house the Tigers, this never would have happened, eh?

Dear Batgirl and charming readers-

A word or five of appreciation for being here, really being here for us Twins folks to post a note, to shed a tear perhaps (yes, I know there is NO crying in baseball). I am crestfallen because of the SNOW?? DELAY. Truly was looking forward to sitting down with my Tuna Melt and diet pop and cheering on the boys. I worked briefly this a.m. and did not know of the snow delay until I heard of it on 830. I was thinking before the announcement about Why the bleeding hell was WCCO not broadcasting the Twins? Snow! Back in the days of the Tigers world series victory (remind me was it 83 or84 or?) I lived in suburban Daytwa (Detroit) (or The Toilet as the natives affectionately named the area). Daytwa is usually warmer than our fair city. The baseball gods surely must be up to some mischief to snow on the day of our assured Saturday victory. What must they have a'brewing in their devious minds? A double header--twin victories for, well, the Twins?

What do I do now? shop? do chores? nap? take a bath and read? I made no plans because I was going to be where you all were going to park--in front of the tv (or monitor). sigh.

My sweetie found my order for a Santana/Nathan...sweatshirt and gave me a little grief. "Batgirl?" he sneared. I replied "Read the &^%$ing blog. It's really great." He,you see, has an amused attitude towards women and sports (except the Gopher Women's b-ball--they rock at bit in his narrow wrong-headed world). I bought him partial Twins season tickets last year for his birthday. Should I not be permanently up on a pedestal of worship due to my generosity?

I am learning at a decent clip about the holy game of baseball, though I do have to get some clarification from him regarding some of the umpire calls, player strategies, or Gardy decisions. Still I am always ready to get to the Dome on time, I've taught him to stay at the game until the end (you never know...) and believe that I am a fine baseball companion. And I did kiss him when we were captured on Kiss cam last season.

So, any words of wisdom from you out there on bringing a man to drop his smirk regarding women who love the game (EVEN though they may not (yet) get some of the nuances and quirks of baseball). Also background reading recommendations(to learn more) for baseball rookie fans would be most appreciated.

Batgirl truly rocks, as do her cadre.

Just seems odd to have a baseball game called by snow. Football games don't get called for snow. they make it more fun. Imagine the fun that Sweetcheeks and Lil' S could have had diving around the outfield sliding on the snow when they land!

The other reason it seems odd for snow right now might have to do with the fact that i was sitting on top of my trailer in my shorts today sipping on water (and pouring it all over me) in 115 degrees of beautiful Baghdad heat. 115 degrees in april!? Crap. Its gonna get F-in hot over here in the next couple of months....

On an upsetting note, we have some construction going on at our Camp here, and our office is the next part of the construction. We had 2 computers with internet (and two people) so i could watch every game. Now we only have 1 computer with internet and still two people... its gonna get tricky. Damn.

Posted by: Tinger at April 23, 2005 02:07 PM

Kal, that was moving. You should, indeed be on a pedistal for life for the season tickets gesture. (honey i hope you are reading this... AHEM!) And as far as the kiss cam, you definately fulfilled your duties there. You even have to get some clarification on some of Gardy's calls. Welcome to our world. (Still trying to figure out the whole TJ X 3 from last night...)

I'd say if he gives you any more flack for the Santana/Nathan shirt, he deserves a kick in the shin. Shame on him. Maybe not a hard kick, just a little one to show him whats up. Hopefully he'll learn his lesson. If not, maybe sneak up behind him some day and give him a snuggie. THAT sends a message.

Posted by: Tinger at April 23, 2005 02:15 PM

ESPN.com says the game has been canceled due to rain, not snow. just saying, is all.

Posted by: jaydoubleyou at April 23, 2005 02:26 PM

Dearest Ms. Kal,

There, there, my darling. There there. We're here for you. I cannot help you with the smirk (and I admit I smirk right back at him) but we can give you support. And I think book recommendations.

There is a series Batling infield pointed out to me, "Baseball Behind the Seams." The first two books, The Pitcher and The Catcher detail the game from that position's point of view.

But I believe all that is required to appreciate the game is an open heart.

Sincerely,
BG

Posted by: Batgirl at April 23, 2005 02:32 PM

Thanks Tinger. I do have to confess that my sweetie did take my car out, got it washed and filled the tank before I got up today. The snuggie--a splendid idea--might need to be saved for the next dumb assed remark/smirk. This will not be a long wait.

Tomorrow's forecast for the Motor City is pretty bleak, so batlings might want to make a run to the video store. Unless you have a paper to write. In which case you should dabble in Flash, surf the Web, and scratch the kitties. That's been my strategy for getting through the afternoon without Twins baseball.

Posted by: kurtis at April 23, 2005 03:21 PM

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but I noticed that one Nate Robertson was to take the mound today.

Has anyone seen Punto?

Posted by: mk at April 23, 2005 03:23 PM

In another "Where are they now?" installment, the MLB.com home page currently has a video highlight of Dougie Met catching a foul ball off the bat of Nat Guzzie.

Posted by: Kurtis at April 23, 2005 04:11 PM

Kal,

Some baseball books I've loved and learned a lot from:

"Why Is the Foul Pole Fair?" by Vince Staten is a great combination of baseball history, game lore, and reflections upon what it is to be a lover of the game.

The current entries in the "Baseball Behind the Seams" series by Rob Trucks are an excellent vehicle for understanding the battery and how it influences the whole game. There will be more entries in future.

"The Hidden Language of Baseball" by Paul Dickson is about signs and sign-stealing, which have more of an impact on the game than you might think. A good insight into baseball strategy, with some truly hilarious tales of the lengths players and coaches have gone to to send and steal signs.

"Men At Work" by George F. Will is very informative, especially for a newer fan, but is rather dry reading, so approach it with determination.

I personally think every baseball fan should be required to read A. Bartlett Giamatti's "A Great and Glorious Game" at least once in their lives, but that's just me. I'm not sure how much practical information you'd glean from it, but as an expression of love for the game, I've never read its equal.

I learned a lot about the game by learning to keep a scoresheet--to keep an accurate one requires watching and understanding every play. I recommend Paul Dickson's "The Joy of Keeping Score" as a primer on the art, as well as http://www.baseballscorecard.com/ .

And, of course, a copy of the Official Rules of Major League Baseball is a must-have. Don't know why that balk was called? Look it up!

And if you should stumble upon a copy of "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend: Women Writers on Baseball", which is sadly out of print, you may beat him over the head with it and then sell it to me, as I've been looking for it for years.

Best wishes,
infield

Another good book is "The Thinking Fan's Guide to Baseball."

Posted by: Kurtis at April 23, 2005 04:25 PM

So i figure with no game, i might as well take this time to write about the crazy ass dream i had last night. I mean crazy. So there i was, home on leave in July, and i found myself in my garage in the company of people who are currently at my cousins wedding in Tennesee. But we're still in my garage in Minnesota. Except its actually a big ass shed with a parking lot in it. But its still my garage, i just have a big garage. So there we are, for Lew Fords abduction into the hall of fame. (no, thats not a typo, it wasn't his INDUCTION, it was his ABDUCTION. i don't get it either. crazy ass dream). So we had to leave early so i could go ice fishing. In July. Go figure. I get to the lake, and because its July, i can't drive my truck out on the lake. So instead, i drive a chair out. Yup, just a chair. It had an engine. It was a chair like you might find down at the Bingo palace. So as i'm going out driving my chair, i get a call on a cell phone (but its not my cell phone, just in my pocket) and i say "hello" and the voice on the ohter end of the phone says "WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME!?" and i was like "uh, because its fun. Who is this?" and then she proceeds, without giving me a name, to chew my ass for having a girlfriend. I figure out at that point that its an ex from years ago and she's mad as hell. So i start laughing. then i woke up. and i was laughing when i woke up, in real life. Crazy ass dream. I have no idea what it meant, or why Poor Lew got abducted into the hall of fame. I got nothin.

Posted by: Tinger at April 23, 2005 04:34 PM

Paul Dickson also edited something called "The Dickson Baseball Dictionary" which is very helpful if you want to find out what an "eephus pitch" is or understand the infield fly rule. (Not that I really understand the infield fly rule even after reading the entry, but, then again, sometimes I think nobody really understands the infield fly rule, except, apparently, Jacque Jones.)

Greetings all,
I'm new to the Batgirl site, but I have to say reading the blogs and comments have given me great delight the last couple of days. I was very disappointed about this snow-out... now what am I supposed to do with an afternoon off? At least here in New Mexico it's 80 and beautiful out.
as far as baseball reading goes, I would recommend "Boys of Summer" by Roger Kahn (an amazing book about love of the game and a team, though it may not provide much practical knowledge) as well Cobb by Al Stump and 8 Men Out by Elliot Asinof (about the 1919 Black Sox scandal) if you're interested in baseball history as I am.

Dear Lord, Tinger. I would hate to let Freud get a hold of that one.

I would like to point out that it was layers upon layers of cruel to point out a) that you are baking in the sun (it's freaking FREEZING here right now) and I am waiting not so patiently for the warm weather to get here to wear my new bikini, and b) to tell us that you may be absent from the posting during upcoming games.

How long will it take?!?!?!

Say, BG?? I am finally getting my finances enough in order that I can perhaps splurge to get my appropriate Boyfriend gear. Am I not understanding the website correctly or is the Joe Nathan shirt only available as a men's t-shirt?

Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't have to worry about the bazoonga fit issue so the women's t's are perfect for me. The men's shirt on the other hand would be pretty darn large.. I just don't see that Joe Nathan one in the womans. I might be lost.

Babs, couple of points.
1. Sorry to blow up about the beauty weather. Its actually quite a bitch when i'm doing things like wearing a helmet and heavy ass IBA vest (bulletproof vest, for you non-military type).

B. I'm only working the night shift for another week or so, then i'm back to the day shift. I'm 9 hours ahead of the normal world here, So 7 pm games start at 4 am. Noon Games start at 9 pm. they didn't orientate baseball to Iraq. I'll sleep from about 8-4:30, so i won't be able to catch much of any of the games anyway (i know, this kills me), but i'll make it a point to get some days off after noon games anyway so i can stay up and watch... otherwise, i'll just have to hop on when i can.

Last, my dream would have been better had i run into Jeb while ice fishing with his beloved Canadian Lumberjack Corey Koskie. Alas, my ex got upset, i started laughing, and woke up. Who knows, it could have been coming later... i blame the ex. Damn her.

Posted by: Tinger at April 23, 2005 06:01 PM

Dearest Ms. Babs,

The Nathan shirt is in the men's sizes but they are not really "men's" shirts and a smaller size should fit you just fine. Though if you would really like a woman's tell me and I'll switch something around.

Yours,
BG

Speaking of weird Twins dreams, I had a dream a few weeks ago that I was at a Twins/Bitch Sox game. All was going well and the good guys were winning when I suddenly noticed we were at a Twins/Bitch Sox game....in Seattle. I don't remember much else about the game because I was consumed with the need to figure out why the game was in Seattle.

Posted by: Saajak at April 23, 2005 07:58 PM

Did anybody else see the joke lineup that Gardy apparently posted in the clubhouse this morning? (As the article points out, he must've been quite confident that there wasn't going to be a game.) Anyway, I read it and it made me laugh pretty hard. It's on the Twins site, under their notes about Joe Mays' start being pushed back a day.

Posted by: Webster at April 23, 2005 09:28 PM

Dear Saajak,
Could it be that Fredie Garcia was pitching?
Also remember that Last year the Marlins played a couple of games as the home team in Comisky, during one of the 48 hurricanes that hit Florida last fall. They marlins wear teal like the mariners, and pinstripes like the whitesox.

Hey, the Royals got the whole "let's not score with bases loaded one out" thing going too. Although the second out was a caught stealing home on a wild pitch. Now AJ scored for the Sox. Dang, come on Gotay-Sweeney-Stairs! Takatsu needs another blown save!

Dang, Marte's still pitching.

Posted by: amr at April 23, 2005 09:29 PM

Maybe on these days when we don't have anything else to do we should pick another game--just ATTACK that sucker--and start commenting on it...like, I was just watching the Bitch Sox feed vs KC (I have MLB extra innings because, well, what else do I have to do with my money) and their announcers are so LAME! Anyway, now I'm watching the A's and Angels; figured I should get familiar with the LAA since they'll be here next week...

Anyone else out there surfing the games?

2. Corky Miller, 2B---- i cringed seeing it, even though i KNEW it was a joke. Damn, the dude's gotta go!

Posted by: Tinger at April 23, 2005 10:19 PM

Sorta. Just caught the end of the Sox/Royals game. Woot :)

I need more baseball literature, those suggestions sound good. I got screwed in college...I'm a history major with a focus on medieval/military histories, and my senior thesis course was about the education of women in middle ages. If I had taken my thesis course a semester later, I could have chosen instead to take my thesis course on the history of BASEBALL.

BASEBALL.

I got a D+ in the women/education/middle age course, mostly due to complete apathy. My final paper was 16 pages under budget and of quality unsuitable even for a freshman course, let alone senior. If it were baseball, woulda been an easy A.

Sigh. Sometimes life is funny like that.

Oh well, that's a couple years ago, and the Sox won tonight. Life's still plenty good.

By the by...

The Jackal gets what seems to be a severe injury, is miraculously healed. Jose Contreras has just suffered a hammy injury that seems of light severity...does this mean he's going to have season-ending surgery to balance for Carlos' good karma? Hope not...

Tinger-

I agree that we have too many catchers, and Redmond's the best backup, so I'm hoping the Twins will come to their senses, say farewell to Corky and bring Terry Spiffee back up to the majors.

I also have a love-hate thing going on with Matty LeCroy, who has angered me too much with his slowness and his constant hitting into double plays and other infuriating groundouts. He's funny with that Big Country thing goin' on, but for a power hitter he's not really hitting anything. Maybe we should send him to the BoSox so they can teach him to hit like David Ortiz suddenly did after he left the Twins, then bring him back. There must be something in the water in Boston.

(I realize of course, that perhaps Matty is hitting better than I perceive him to be, because frankly I tend to forget when he hits anything. It makes a difference when a guy has no defensive skills whatsoever, because though Torii wasn't so hot right at the beginning, I forgave it because of his spectacular fielding. Matty, meanwhile, has no such talent and is thus more subjected to my scrutiny. Michael Cuddyer, also, is starting to tire me out. One grand slam Cuddybear, that's all I ask and I'll forgive you!)

Posted by: Webster at April 23, 2005 10:30 PM

Why not this for a line-up:

1. Matt Guerrier, LF
2. Matthew LeCroy, SS
3. Nick Punto, C
4. Jesse Crain, 1B
5. Terry Mulholland, CF
6. Jesse Crain, RF
7. Luis Rivas, DH
8. Kyle Lohse, 3B
9. Corky Miller, 2B
Pitching: Juan Castro

I don't feel so good about having Corky at 2B, though. If only we could have re-signed Jose Offerman...
(I think Jose was in at 2B for one game last year, and committed 2 errors in 2 chances for 2 runs, something like that.)

Funniest thought though, is LeCroy being SS.

Okay, I just looked at the roster on MLB.com. How the heck is LeCroy only 230 lbs? While Torii is 220, Corky is 245, and and Silva is 250?
Well... apparently Silva is 6'4."

Just caught the last few innings of the CWS-KC game over at my friend Bella's (she was so distraught over the cancellation of today's Twins game that she immediately called Comcast and ordered the MLB package). Really got my hopes up for a few minutes there, but then I was reminded that this was, after all, the Royals I was putting my hopes on. Oh well.

Nevertheless, one wonderful thing happened today: THE YANKEES ARE NOW IN LAST PLACE IN THE AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST -- A GAME BEHIND THE TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS! I just hope Steinbrenner doesn't burst a blood vessel in his brain or something.

On a related note, I suddenly realized that Joe Torre will NOT be the manager of the AL All-Star team, which surely means we will be spared having 9 or 10 Yankees on the team.

P.S. Speaking of baseball theses, I wrote a short paper back in my college days called "The Days of Wine and Rojas: Growing up a Phillies Fan in the 60s." Most of you young'uns won't get it, I suppose.

AMR-

I'm curious to learn how Jesse Crain will play 1B and RF at the same time, then bat 4th and 6th in the lineup. It would definitely be an interesting game. . .

Posted by: Webster at April 23, 2005 10:45 PM

Another fun thing I found out from the official roster, Nick Punto is closest to my age, followed by Grant Balfour.

(yeah, i'm a little bored, I've been looking at 40-man roster mug shots. Liriano's got a nice picture. Looks like he could be David Ortiz's thin, pitching brother. Probably just because of the Amish beard thing.)

Posted by: amr at April 23, 2005 10:51 PM

The important thing is that the 1B Crain bats cleanup. (No idea who I had where before I cahnged it and screwed up.) What the hell, let Lew play in the field, as RF.

Posted by: amr at April 23, 2005 10:58 PM

The important thing is to get Lew in the lineup... I'm not sure about the rest of them, but then again it's not a *real* lineup anyway. Except maybe in the very early days of Spring Training. Wouldn't that be a laugh and a half! Ah, the days of Spring Training where Matty LeCroy is put in to pinch run for people...

Hey, congratulations on not having LaTroy Hawkins on the team anymore. He blew another save for the Cubs today... that's two blown in five opportunities.

Also, from one of the articles on the twins website, about Torii Hunter dropping the ball the other day:

Hunter was told it could happen to anyone. But he never thought such a mistake would befall him.

"That was a humbling experience," Hunter admitted. "But you won't see it again."

I hate to point this out, but NEVER say that something will never happen again. Odds on him dropping the next fly ball hit his way just rose exponentially. Maybe then he'll learn not to tempt the baseball gods with overconfident remarks.

"Hey, congratulations on not having LaTroy Hawkins on the team anymore. He blew another save for the Cubs today... that's two blown in five opportunities."

Par for course. LaTroy's not a good closer. Wasn't with the Twins. Incredible setup man, though. Twins knew it, used him well. Used him well, placed Nathan well, decided to give Johan a chance to eat up some innings...usually pretty good placement of personnel. Too bad the 3-5 starters have been so light for you...

We have the pitching depth, we should probably trade you El Duque for Nathan. You get a starter, we get a closer. Deal? :P

As for the Yanks...wish it would last. They are, however, notoriously slow starters of late. Last year everyone saw A-Rod, Giambi, and Jeter's Aprils and wrote the Yanks off. Sadly, doesn't always pan out that way.

This year though...if the O's can somehow achieve what the Rockies tried to do all those years, and just score way more runs than the opponents can get off your own pitching, then maybe this IS the year we finally don't see the Yanks in the post-season. How cool would it be, Texas, Orioles, White Sox, and Twins all in the playoffs in one year?

"This year though...if the O's can somehow achieve what the Rockies tried to do all those years, and just score way more runs than the opponents can get off your own pitching, then maybe this IS the year we finally don't see the Yanks in the post-season. How cool would it be, Texas, Orioles, White Sox, and Twins all in the playoffs in one year?"

First of all, if that happened, I would burst a blood vessel of joy.

And, I admit, it kinda looks like that's what the O's are doing right now, with the lovely lineup (Brian Bob had a few quiet games, then decided to put the ass-bat away and get a start-off homer yesterday), but I do think the pitching will come around. Most of our starters are fairly solid, but when they have bad innings, they tend to be *very* bad innings -- and with a young staff and the beginning of the season, you can't really hope for more than that. The bullpen is decent aside from guys named Steve, and BJ Ryan, while not the Nathanator, is damned impressive (striking out Matsui on a full count with the bases loaded? How's that for not letting nerves get to you?)

That being said, I think the chances of neither the Yankees nor the Red Sox making it to the post-season are about the same as the Royals coming back to take the Central. So, Pander, I look forward to seeing you in a race for the Wild Card with my O's, while the Yanks look on longingly. And then somebody (anybody) whooping some Red Sox butt in the postseason, because if they don't get whooped soon, they're going to be unbearable (by the way, did you know they won the World Series? Didja didja didja? 'Cause they did, and the turn up at Camden Yards all the time to remind us, in case we forgot...)

No baseball Sunday either. No makeup date set either.

We could end up having a 6 game series in July when the two meet up again. I dont think we will get to play tomorrow either. ;-(

Welcome to the off season.

Today's high in DET: 35F.
Tomorrow's high: 53F. Snow and Rain ending in the morning. I think we have a game, maybe with a delay.

Meanwhile, the Twins and Hennepin Cty have a plan on a ballpark with no state money and no roof. They will accept state donations of $100M for a roof. The team would chip in $125M. Henn Cty would have a 30-year 0.15% sales tax to fund their part. Naming rights would be sold. Too bad Famous Dave's and Buca di Beppo aren't big enough yet to buy naming rights. "Dave's Stadium" isn't "Eloise Field" but it's better than "Best Buy Park".

See startribune.com for more details.

Dear Kal, if your man reads Batgirl and still condescends to smirk at women who talk baseball, I say kick the patronizing bastard to the curb. The guy doesn't know how good he has it.

Batgirl, batlings, and other travelers-

many thanks for your suppportive comments as well as for the book and website recommendations.

Batgirl, I do ultimately believe the open heart is key. I started my love affair with baseball, like many others i would guess, when the Twins were in the playoffs in 1987. World Series fever was 104.9 degrees for many of us. Everywhere I went in the metro I felt excitment, joy, warmth--strangers speaking excitedly to anyone wearing a Twins item. Sisterhood and brotherhood peaked during that glorious Fall. Does anyone remember the line that circled the block of the StarTribune Building of folks waiting to buy the first homer hankie? My daughter was just 4 years old that FAll. She still talks about the night we all went crazy. I did nothave tickets for game 7 but when the Twins won we piled into the car and headed downtown to be part of the craziness. I burnt out the horn on my car that night.
Really indescribable joy grabbed the Twins nation on that perfect night. May we all revisit that glory soon.

The "Sweetie" really is a good man but, sigh, he is flawed. He won't admit this but he does occasionally ask ME questions occasionally about an upcoming game. He knows I know. He knows I pay attention to anything Twins. I have been with him 10 years--he just needs more training. And know that "kal" puts up with no crap from no man.

I do go on and on...
I have to get to work by 2 p.m. and I have a Dr. appt. at noon so I am not going to hear much of the game. I am Twin's starved like many of you. I will have to slurp up what I can from 1-2 p.m. courtesy of 830.

Is anyone else annoyed by all of the selling of products during the game broadcast on WCCO? Pitches, homeruns, etc. connected to products? And the post game wrap up is 1.5 minutes of game related chatter followed by,I swear, 4 minutes of ads. Sweetie and I wonder what it would be like to have that kind of job: 1.5 minutes of work--ok time for a 4 minute break! Poor bastards. Know this WCCO we shut you off as soon as an ad comes on, play a complete tune and still often catch the last 30 seconds of your endless sponsors. Here is a thought: CHARGE MORE FOR ADVERTISESMENT AND PLAY THEM LESS. WE MIGHT ACTUALLY STAY TUNED IF IT DIDN'T GO ON AND ON AND ON...

ON AND ON i GO. THANKS FOR LISTENING, yours, kal

p.s. just a wonder? I do not find much flavor in baseball when the Twins are not part of the ticket. Ok, unless the Yankees are getting their butts womped in post season play. The Sweetie will tune in, for a time, to football, baseball, hockey, or b-ball with regularity regardless of teams playing, favoring, of course, Mn. teams. Just wondering where batlings perch?
