Game Thread: Twins at Chicago.

Bradke on the hill. Maybe tune in after the first inning? Things tend to look up after that.
Bide your time by playing Batgirl Clear the Bases.

This probably says something about me, but clear the bases is the most fun I can recall having.

Posted by: Goober at April 19, 2005 05:26 PM

I like how affirming it is. I left it up to get the link, and then played a game without realizing I'd had the timer going the whole time. So it took me 29 minutes to Clear the Bases, but I didn't feel judged at all!

Posted by: Batgirl at April 19, 2005 05:48 PM

If you send this game to the Twins, make sure to rename it to "Clear the bases without GIDP"

That being said, this game is almost as fun as the one where the polar bear hits penguins across the snow, or the one where you walk the drunk guy... Even better than my Cracker Jacks prize last night. And thats sayin alot.

AHHHH! that just brought back a memory of last nights game, and i now have a severe headache... well, back to Clear the Bases!

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 06:05 PM

Clear the bases may be the greatest game since the russians introduced america to tetris!

Posted by: Bojangles Crain at April 19, 2005 06:16 PM

Have faith Batgirl! Radke will have the first inning under control tonight!

btw.. I did it in 1:05. woo

That was fun!

Posted by: Pepper at April 19, 2005 06:36 PM

Survived another night with Bitch Sox fans. Unfortunately, the game isnt on TV here again, and if Gameday is on the fritz, I'm relying on y'all to keep me posted.

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 06:38 PM

Ryan-
Keep trying GameDay...even when it goes on the fritz, it usually comes back eventually...

Clear the Bases is way more fun than any game on the web has a right to be. Thank you!

Beth

Posted by: Just Beth at April 19, 2005 06:50 PM

It IS on TV here! I'm thrilled! I would still have Dick and Bert than the Hawk and DJ

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 07:02 PM

I would *rather" have Dick and Bert. Euphoria messes with syntax and typing skills

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 07:04 PM

I can't catch much of the game tonight, but Clear the Bases really is a great game. 1:26 on my first try.

The homework I have to do during the game tonight: find positive images of alternative educational paradigms in the lyrics of Kanye West's College Dropout album.

I love this school. Still, I'd rather watch the Twins take back their share of the division lead.

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:07 PM

AT- dude, thats deep. No wonder its so Damned expensive to go there.

WHOOHOO! start up the hit parade right away, good job Stew!

come on j.b...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:10 PM

US Bitchular (can we call it The Bitch?) is totally empty tonight.

Good to see the Twins are in the form they were last night, with the early DP

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 07:12 PM

The announcers (stupid bitchsox announcers, that is) are talking about how the twins "always find a way to turn it around". They were talking about how every few years we bring up a top prospect. What the hell, where have they been? we're bringing up a couple EVERY year. They should pay more attention.

On a side note, i've been on shift for 6 hours tonight, and i've killed 61 Mosquitoes! The most i've killed before tonight is 12 in a night. I've been picturing little Carl Everette's flying around tonight, its paying off

STUPID STUPID STUPID DOUBLE PLAY! NO! GO HOME! BAD DOUBLE PLAY!

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:12 PM

I was feeling sorry for myself 'cause I have to go back in to work in an hour so I'll miss most of the game except what little I can catch between confering with coworkers and Gordo's digressions, but then that DP happened and I felt better about the whole thing. Yep.

Posted by: infield at April 19, 2005 07:14 PM

how about a little birthday home run action? birthday base hit action? just an all around birthday bitch-sox kicking fest? I'm game for whatever, Mr. Chairman, i'm sure you won't dissappoint.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:14 PM

I've switched my "little Carl Everettes" over to "little twins that hit into double plays" and i'm up to 65 now. make that 66. 67.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:16 PM

Oh, for cute. The Royals beat the Indians...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:18 PM

according to the on-screen graphics, radke just threw a 102 mph fastball!

Posted by: TDJ at April 19, 2005 07:19 PM

Tinger - just like home with the bugs, eh?

Bradke giving up a leadoff hit: is that just like home too? Mosquitos and leadoff hits? Home sucks.

And another hit?

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:19 PM

Dear Crazy Carl,

You're crazy, right? find a way to hit into a triple play. Now THAT'd be crazy.

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:20 PM

well, i can't say that i don't like the effort of the defense... At least they're trying for the High Moral Ground.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:20 PM

HUNTER!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: fliphed at April 19, 2005 07:22 PM

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 07:22 PM

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:24 PM

WOW! What a throw by Hunter! What a block by Mauer! What a catch by Jones!

Posted by: infield at April 19, 2005 07:24 PM

Where's the real Bradke? Singles and a wild freakin' pitch?!?!

Posted by: twink at April 19, 2005 07:25 PM

That is PRECISELY why I love the Twins. =)

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 07:25 PM

HOLY CRAP! this is going to be a fun defensive game to watch judging by that first inning. Even on the plays we DIDN'T get them out, we made it look good.

Now, if only that would translate over to the bats...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:26 PM

Yeah, i guess thats why Bradke is still our number 1 guy in the rotation. Even when his other non-brad radke impoter dude shows up, we still get outs.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:28 PM

Good God... some guys can just magically hit ML pitching... I think Tiffee's one of those guys.

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 07:28 PM

To paraphrase the aforementioned Mr. West, that right there could drive a sane man bizzerk... not to worry y'all, the Twins is back to wizzerk.

Posted by: kw at April 19, 2005 07:30 PM

kw, excellent work with the subject of my homework. I need to mimic that later.

Jacque Jones: don't swing at that crap.

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:34 PM

Ha! So much for all those throws to first. Steal, Torii, steal!

Posted by: joshlee at April 19, 2005 07:35 PM

My computer got commondered (sp?) for some official crap, they made me turn off the twins. Bastards, What did i miss?

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:35 PM

Torii getting a monster jump and stealing 2nd. =)

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 07:36 PM

Ouch!!!!!!!!! Lew

Posted by: Tbone at April 19, 2005 07:36 PM

I guess maybe i should let them make me turn off the twins more often, this is looking good!COME ON LEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:36 PM

Lew! you ok, buddy?

Cuddy: way to not swing at the first pitch.

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:37 PM

OK, now this is where you DON'T HIT INTO A DOUBLE PLAY!!! LEADERSHIP, MIKEY! LEADERSHIP!!!!!!

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:37 PM

Mikey, that was not any way to represent. shame.

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:38 PM

Will Nicky swing in this at-bat? It's always a good question.

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:39 PM

Are the Twins trying to set a record for LOB this year?

Posted by: fliphed at April 19, 2005 07:39 PM

Come on little Nicky, pick up JJ and Cuddy! 3:45 and cleared the bases. Nick can do it in 30 seconds.

Posted by: insider at April 19, 2005 07:39 PM

Cuddyer, if you're gonna swing, make sure you're gonna swing, and make sure every part of your body knows your gonna swing. And DAMMIT! don't NOT swing at good pitches. Thats not leadership.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:39 PM

Deju vu! Why can't we knock in runs with the bases loaded!?

Posted by: Shaun at April 19, 2005 07:40 PM

I'm in here late and see the Whox didn't score in the first inning. Is that a mistake?

Posted by: Kurtis at April 19, 2005 07:40 PM

Time for little Nicky Punto to show his quality...

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 07:40 PM

walk little nicky, walk...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:41 PM

See Brad, I do have a poker face!! I didn't make a move during that at bat!

Posted by: Michael Cuddyer at April 19, 2005 07:41 PM

what the hell was torii doing out there at second? he must be toying with them... all falling all over and stuff...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:42 PM

Okay, see guys, THIS is the kind of at-bat you have with bases loaded! You do not let the pitcher off lightly!

Posted by: infield at April 19, 2005 07:43 PM

This reminds me of the teams from the late nineties.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 07:45 PM

The noise I just made scared all the squirrels out of the tree outside my window. GRRRRR...

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:45 PM

A lack of a hitter(s) who can consistantly do what it takes to knock in runs will kill this team. This LOB thing is pathetic!

Posted by: Shaun at April 19, 2005 07:45 PM

The Twins must be trying to get into the record book for the most men left on base in a two-game series.

Posted by: Kurtis at April 19, 2005 07:45 PM

I didn't just see the Twins leave the bases loaded again tonight, did I? Because, well, I'm starting to think I'm seeing players on base that aren't there. There's no way we could have the bases loaded with no runs scoring this often. I'm definitely seeing things.

Posted by: Just Beth at April 19, 2005 07:46 PM

Conti threw alot of pitches last night, look where that got us...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:46 PM

Wow, we should just stop loading the bases. Maybe our youngsters get nervous...

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 07:46 PM

He gone! :)

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 07:48 PM

I'm gonna go play clear the bases, someone come knock on my tombstone when we get a hit with the bases loaded...

at least our defense is still sharp... so we got that goin for us

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:49 PM

If that weren't A.J., i'd be upset about that base hit, but i still have that soft spot in my heart for the guy

Sure as hell not for joe crede though...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:51 PM

People, I'm out. Tell Bradke to stop giving up two hits per inning, and tell the rest to lose the ass-bats with the bases loaded.

Posted by: AT at April 19, 2005 07:51 PM

Damn, there went the relaxing half of the inning... now for the half where we all pull our hair out again.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:53 PM

I just want to note that I (heart) Sweetcheeks. Loved his throw to home, loved his stolen base, loved him taking great big leads and distracting the pitcher during Punto's at-bat.

I hate that we're leaving so many guys on base. Man.

And now I'm gonna stop watching for a while, maybe that'll help the guys.

Posted by: Laurel at April 19, 2005 07:55 PM

Hey,

A wacked article by some Chicago newspaper.

http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/columns/ladewski/x19-lad1.htm

Posted by: Sasha at April 19, 2005 07:56 PM

El Duke has one wicked tail on his pitches...

I love watching J.B. bat, he's such a fighter... he's gonna break this slump before too long and when he does, LOOK OUT!

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:57 PM

Atta boy joe, way to give it a birthday spanking.... now lets go T.T., keep us rollin here, bring joe home...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:58 PM

El Duque*

Posted by: Sasha at April 19, 2005 07:58 PM

And my "home" i mean to home THEN the dugout, not the dugout then behind home...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 07:59 PM

El Duke, El Duque, however you spell it, Tiffee didn't bring joe home.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 08:00 PM

Sasha, that article was vicious! Most people I know hate the Twins because they are, well, better than they are, but that was just spiteful. It made me angry...

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 08:02 PM

A summary of the article posted by Sasha:

"My name is Paul Ladewski, and I am a loser. And a tool."

That's all you really need to know.

Posted by: Eric at April 19, 2005 08:02 PM

Leadership would have been diving for that ball...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 08:04 PM

Whats with the japanese guys that can't not get a hit? maybe the twins should go scout out the island for a second baseman...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 08:06 PM

Tinger - Having played on a softball team with a Japanese friend, I can assure you that not all guys in the country can hit.

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 08:08 PM

Okay, just got on, and just read the article. My first thought... did the author think his hometeam is the Red Sox? That was some classic whining, there.

Posted by: joshlee at April 19, 2005 08:09 PM

Wow, i read the article, or as much of it as i could take, after the tears got to be too much from the laughter, i couldn't concentrate anyway.

What i got from the article: That guy needs to get the sand out of his 'giney.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 08:10 PM

Alas, I can't get to the article from here at work. From the sound of it, I'm probably better off. Don't want to punch anything out here...

Posted by: mk at April 19, 2005 08:11 PM

People really need to figure out that they can't steal on Joe. He almost hucked pigskin for Florida, for Christ's sake.

But Torii, wow, he's been ripping the basepaths up so far this year. I think he's going for the award this season. What did he get last year, like 25? He's going to get Posednik-like numbers if he keeps this up.

Posted by: Haplo at April 19, 2005 08:12 PM

As stupid as they are, I have to say, the White Sox announcers have been more complimentary of our team and players than I've ever heard them be. Last year they pretty much dismissed everything we did well as luck.

That aside, they're still horrible announcers.

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 08:12 PM

Haplo,

That would be Florida State. Florida is eee-vil...

is he getting at the right way to win a game is to not do as good as the opposing pitchers?

THAT'S WHY THE BITCHSOX ALWAYS FAIL AT THE END OF THE YEAR! it all makes sense to me now, i'm glad i went back and finished that, after wiping away my tears.

Posted by: Shaun at April 19, 2005 08:16 PM

MK, my mistake.

That's it, Cuddyer's gotta go. A first-pitch GIDP? Enough.

Posted by: Haplo at April 19, 2005 08:17 PM

I'm trying to be gracious, searching for a silver lining in the last two games. Someone help me find it, please?

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 08:18 PM

What's this "doofus pitch" that Gordo and Dazzle keep talking about?

Posted by: Pepper at April 19, 2005 08:18 PM

Jones has swung at 4 balls in 2 abs. Punto should keep Corky company on the bus to Beloit. Stop thinking about how the Chisox will cave, and think about how this team can win a game in October, with Cuddy, and Matty, and Luis, and Sneezy. These are games against their main division competition they are sleep-walking thru. This is a negative phenomenon.

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 08:23 PM

Pepper...I'm no expert, so take this as you will, but I think they are refering to the "ephus" pitch...which as far as I can tell, is a really slow curve ball that drops out. I think that is what they call the pitch the White Sox's closer throws...again, I'm not the expert. :)

Thanks!

Thank you Shannon, for bringing some light to my day.

How cute.

AJ goes to the mound to discuss how to pitch to Joe.

Duck snort.. I think the a ball hit harder than a 'Texas leaguer' but not hard enough to be called a solid base hit

I'm a *little* worried about leaving all those guys on the basepaths, but not too much. All teams go through stretches like this.

I'm more worried about wasting this great outing by Brad.

Ugh - poor Brad - now Torii misplays the ball!

Posted by: Wonder Woman at April 19, 2005 08:39 PM

And i still hate Joe Crede. Just more than before. No, really, I'm serious. It may seem tough, but it just happened. My hatred grew for him like the Grinch's heart grew on Christmas.

"Scooter Pod?"

Posted by: qjw at April 19, 2005 08:43 PM

Yikes. Not a good throw. =(

Count me among those who think Lew should be playing left every day with Shannon as the DH.

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 08:44 PM

here is to back-to back-to back-to back - to one of el dookie's head - to back homeruns

Posted by: twinsfanca at April 19, 2005 08:45 PM

Yeah, apparently those crazy Milwaulkee natives used to call Podsednik that when he was on the Brew Crew.... haven't really thought of anything better yet

Posted by: Daveman at April 19, 2005 08:46 PM

Way to go, Boyfriend O'Mine.

Posted by: qjw at April 19, 2005 08:46 PM

ROFL!!! Jacque tatooed that eephus pitch. That was awesome.

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 08:47 PM

The Sox commentators keep talking about the ball catching the jet stream. I'm a meteorologist, so perhaps nobody finds that as hilarious as me

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 08:47 PM

Ah man, now here you guys come.... this game is destined for extras

Posted by: Daveman at April 19, 2005 08:48 PM

Another chance for a key hit.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 08:48 PM

Time for redemption, Cuddy! C'mon!

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 08:49 PM

Woo, bases loaded, the time is ripe for a GIDP! I kid, of course. Except not. *sob*

Posted by: joshlee at April 19, 2005 08:49 PM

That's the way to hit the ball! now lets not blow this one...

come on, i know you guys have it in you... somewhere...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 08:49 PM

Unbelievable! Bases loaded again?

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 08:49 PM

What's up everyone? Hey Tinger, Hey AT - time for LNP to be a HERO!!!

Posted by: BW at April 19, 2005 08:50 PM

THAT'S leadership. Good job Cuddy! now, for our next trick... NOT LEAVING THE BASES OPEN!!!

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 08:50 PM

How many Bitch Sox coaches does it take to figure out how to pitch to little Nicky Punto with the bases loaded?

=0P

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 08:51 PM

*whining* Please score.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 08:52 PM

LNP, you are to be eaten, NOW. We were hoping to spare you until at least the eighth.

Posted by: qjw at April 19, 2005 08:52 PM

Ok Shannon, be the ball!

Posted by: heraldguy at April 19, 2005 08:53 PM

LOB's are not cool...

Posted by: BW at April 19, 2005 08:53 PM

Boy, we sure know how to "play the game right" It's especially heartwarming to see them play this way behind Brad, who has given them like 10 years of his life, in exchange for a total of 65 runs during his entire career.Cuddyer's "team leading playoff average" includes 1 extra base hit in 32 abs, and 4 rbi in 10 games. Why does Gardy let Punko hit w/bases loaded again? Fuckit!

Posted by: al at April 19, 2005 08:53 PM

Is this really happening? Perhaps the Sox are channeling the spirit of the Jackal.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 08:54 PM

Someone get Cuddyer a chair to kick after the game please.

Thanks,

The Canadian

Posted by: Corey Koskie at April 19, 2005 08:54 PM

Anyone who DIDN'T see that coming?

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 08:54 PM

Posted by: BW at April 19, 2005 08:56 PM

Posted by: Nick at April 19, 2005 08:57 PM

Awwww Crap - Damn that Paul Konerko -

Posted by: Wonder Woman at April 19, 2005 08:59 PM

I'm just gonna go outside and piss down my leg, just to try to get the feeling that the twins seem to live by.

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 09:00 PM

*shaking head*

Posted by: BW at April 19, 2005 09:00 PM

Hi all, just got on to the thread tonight. Can I just say that the Twins are driving me NUTS?!

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:01 PM

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:04 PM

Mine's on, too.

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:05 PM

Not really the start to the rally I had in mind... ;)

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:08 PM

Torii please make the boo birds feel like crap.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:10 PM

C'mon Twins, stop playing like ass-crap!

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:12 PM

Rally cap.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:16 PM

Does anybody else think that when Dr. Morneau comes back we should move Cuddy to 2nd and play Tiffee every day at 3rd??? We can send Punto down instead of Tiffee (not just based on tonight's game)

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:18 PM

I'm putting on an underwear hat. There's some meaning in it somewhere:

1. Beat the pants of the sox.
2. Stop playing like ass-crap, because now I'm wearing an underwear hat.
3. Jacque Jones likes the underwear hat.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:18 PM

I meant "off the sox" but I guess "of" works, too.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:19 PM

Sacky...that...was...awesome.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:19 PM

Well...uhhh...hmmmm.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:20 PM

Is this really happening? Are we really sucking this bad? This makes my life very uncomfortable

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 09:21 PM

I swear I'd seen this game before.

Posted by: Shaun at April 19, 2005 09:21 PM

Mental note: Lew does not like the underwear hat. I would have thought otherwise.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:21 PM

@#$! underwear hat.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:22 PM

Let's look on the brightside. Tomorrow, Johan will be on the mound, he'll pitch 7 innings giving up 1 run, and as such, the Twins will give him 9 runs of run support.

Posted by: Will at April 19, 2005 09:22 PM

Rally cap is burning.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:24 PM

Thank you for putting it all in perspective, Will. The thought of Johan pitching always brightens my day.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:24 PM

At least there's a chance still. I assume we'll be seeing Shingo "Fishy Fish" Takatsu in the ninth. The only closer I'd rather see in the 9th is Mike MacDougal (who I guess isn't closing for the Royals with Cheese anymore?).

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:28 PM

The thought of the Royals staff pitching against us REALLY brightens my day

Posted by: Ryan at April 19, 2005 09:28 PM

Shingo is the new Byung-Hyun Kim

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:33 PM

Luckily it's Lima who other than pitching the game of his life in the playoffs last year, hasn't done a whole lot except suck.

I'd be nervous if we were facing Greinke or Runelvys Hernandez.

Posted by: Mimiru at April 19, 2005 09:34 PM

Punto... not so much today.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:34 PM

Alright Shannon!!!!

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:36 PM

Love the outcome, but why was Stewie going for an extra base when we're down by 3 with one out?

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:37 PM

Anyone remember that LeCroy pinch-hit gland slam in Toronto last year? Yeah... that was awesome.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:39 PM

Well... the shutout's gone, anyway. ;)

C'mon Joe...

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:40 PM

SO tempted to put the underwear hat back on.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:41 PM

How the hell does LeCroy come in and knock in a run?????

Posted by: Shaun at April 19, 2005 09:41 PM

I hope they put a pinch runner in for LeRoy. He's not exactly in tennis form anymore.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:42 PM

What Matty truly does best is pinch-hit.

Posted by: twink at April 19, 2005 09:43 PM

For some reason I am allowing myself to get all excited about the possible rally. You would think that I would have learned by now, but anyway I believe the Chairman will deliver.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:43 PM

Okay, maybe we should keep LeRoy.

Eephus is fun to say, but doofus is even more fun to say. I knew what the eephus (sp?)pitch was, but I never heard of it before this year. It doesn't seem to be a pitch used much by other teams. Is that true?

Posted by: Pepper at April 19, 2005 09:43 PM

If the chairman GIDP, I am going to rend my garments.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:44 PM

oh good. clothes ok for now.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:45 PM

I haven't seen anyone use the eephus regularly since Pascual Perez... You could almost call Zach Grienke's curveball an eephus it's so slow, but not really...

Dangit. Hope the small village we left on the basepaths is able to find their way home after the game.

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:46 PM

Time to start rending.

Posted by: Pepper at April 19, 2005 09:47 PM

I can't wait to see the Batgirl recap.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:47 PM

Hernandez has used the Eephus before. I remember seeing it on Baseball Tonight when he was with the Yankees. He struck someone out on it. Next time up to bat, whoever it was launched an Eephus pitch about 450 feet.

Posted by: sacky at April 19, 2005 09:48 PM

[tips cap to Daveman].

See you in August. Let's hope we've lost the ass-bats by then. ;)

Posted by: Freez at April 19, 2005 09:48 PM

i believe we got "Silva'd" tonight ;(

Posted by: twinsfanca at April 19, 2005 09:51 PM

We have to look at 1-4 vs. the Sox until August, what a long wait for pay back. I get queasy thinking about a whole, long hot summer of being 1-4 and not being able to escape it. At least the dome has AC.

I predict that even if we are in first at the appointed time, "they" will not give us any credit until we can beat them. The Sox might be 10 games back and will still claim that it doesn't matter because we're 1-4.

Posted by: tjacobits at April 19, 2005 09:55 PM

I would like to bitch slap Ozzie for taking out Shingo before Mauer came up.

Anyway, on the bright side...how about all those webgems we had tonight?

Posted by: Stacy at April 19, 2005 09:59 PM

Much like the Twins with the bases loaded, the power briefly went out at work, cutting my access. It looks like I didn't miss much. :/

Posted by: mk at April 19, 2005 10:01 PM

Interesting how Kyle/Lyle, who few consider a top-of-the-rotation starter, gets mercilessly raked over the coals after last night's performance. Then the more highly-regarded Bradke has a similar outing (a couple more innings, four more hits, who knows how many runs saved by some nice defense) and there is hardly a word about it.

Don't misconstrue this as a jab at Brad. For the second night in a row, I put the primary blame on our offensive offense. But I think it does illustrate how hypocritical baseball fans can be.

Posted by: Franorama at April 19, 2005 10:04 PM

thats true fran, i dont blame either of these losses on the pitching

hopefully someone will wake the team up. time for torii to be more than the clubhouse leader in the papers

Posted by: twinsfanca at April 19, 2005 10:07 PM

Now for an update:

I went outside and pissed down my leg. Although it was warm at first, nearly enjoyable, the feeling went away in a hurry. About 1.2 seconds of a hurry. DAMN near as fast as we run to the plate with the bases full so we can get out. Overall, i can't understand what is so enjoyable about pissing down your leg. Apparently, the twins seem to enjoy pissing well pitched games down thier legs. Maybe someday i'll understand. At least we have the Royals coming up, that should get us some sort of encouragement...

Posted by: Tinger at April 19, 2005 10:08 PM

Jacque got a web gem, but no sign of Torii. I think he's become a victim of his own reputation. Plays like that are now considered routine for him.

Posted by: Word Smith at April 19, 2005 10:24 PM

Someone tell the Twins that it is ok to continue to hit the ball and get base hits when the bases are loaded.

I think the Twins need to go back to Cleveland to find the good bats again before making the trip back here...

Posted by: Paul at April 19, 2005 10:43 PM

I really like Corey Koskie's comment.

Cuddyer does need a chair. I wish I didn't like him so much, because he's extremely frustrating.
