Strike!

No, silly, not that kind. The bowling kind! Apparently Gardy gets a lot of them; see, our Fearless Leader grabs life by the horns by hitting the lanes. All Batgirl wants to know is, does he have an embroidered shirt?

From Yahoo!:

Ron Gardenhire never hit .300. But he has bowled it.

And though he's not sure what his lifetime bowling average is, he knows what his lifetime batting average is: .232. The bowling average, he guesses, is probably higher.

"I can pretty much guarantee it," the Minnesota Twins' manager said. "They're not too far apart."

If Gardenhire wasn't one of the most consistent winners in baseball, he might be one of the more consistent winners on the professional bowlers tour. He surely would be one of the happier guys on the bowling tour.

"I love bowling. I've bowled all my life," he said. "I grew up in a small town, [and] I used to go bowling all the time."

BG,
I know this is off topic, but does cafepress do bandannas (or hankies, as it were)? I think some Bat Girl bandannas would be really cool!

Bowling for Gardenhire.

I have an embroidered shirt! And, thanks to Cafe Press, I'm currently wearing my "Don't Blame Me" baseball shirt.

Wasn't Hrbek a big bowler, too?

Anyone got stats for an All-Time Twins bowling league?

Someone asked Gardy today what his average is at Gator Lanes this year and he replied 210. At least that's a higher average than Luis' BA.

Who would win in a bowl-off: Gardy or John Burkett?

(Is that what you call it? A bowl-off?)

Personally, I don't dislike the Yankee players. I've always kind of liked A-Rod, Jeter, and Giambi. Randy Johnson, too. Ok, I'm not a Sheffield fan, but that's not uncommon. It's The Yankees, I dislike. Why? Because they're perrenial winners.

I've had this conversation with a friend many times. His point is that parity ruined the NFL. I agree. Leagues need teams to hate. It's good for baseball to have the Yankees. It was good for basketball to have strong a strong Lakers team. It was good for football when there was a powerhouse or that other sport, the one with the stick and the rubber Hostess Ding Dong. It's good to have a team that fans of other teams could love to hate. A team that other teams could shoot for, to hope to knock off. It brings more to the game. "Professional wrestling" has known this for years. Having a bad guy makes the whole thing more interesting.

Crap. Wrong thread. Sorry.

Being a regular bowler (every monday for 32 weeks a year)I have to say it is pretty darn fun, even though my average has never broken the 130 mark. I love that Gardy's into it, just makes my love for Gardy that much stronger.

Also it's a "Roll Off" not "Bowl Off"

You were close though!!

I can proudly bowl a 120...if I'm having a really good game, lol.

Heh. I was in Florida this past weekend for a wedding, and I caught this article in the Miami Herald. As I read it, I thought of Batgirl and all the little batlings. I'm glad to see that she managed to hunt it down online.
I was unhappy that I had to fly back to L.A. on Sunday, thus causing me to miss the chance to see the Twins take on my old hometown Baltimore Orioles in a spring training game. Curse you, fate!
