As regular readers know, this has been a trying year for Team Batgirl. Just over 12 months ago, each member was happily paired off with a boyfriend,
Batgirl...

...had AJ
Goober...
...had Dougie
Sooz...

...had Shannon
And Jeb...

...had Corey.
Well, Batgirl's had over a year to recover from her loss, and Goober's finally coming out of his post-Dougie era funk, but what of poor Jeb? He lost his dear boyfriend so close to the holidays. Concerned readers have been writing and calling asking after him; so here, in our very first edition of Batgirl Films, we show you Jeb's Christmas (Film will open in your browser window and sound will play. Works best in Netscape or Safari...a plug-in might be required for Internet Explorer.)

Posted by: insider at December 23, 2004 04:42 PMThat was awesome(ly a bummer for Jeb). A Xmas memory I will always cherish. Happy holidays, Cordel or Nodel.
Posted by: The Tizzod at December 23, 2004 04:59 PMWhoa, Jeb,stay away from Batmom's stash!! That stuff will really bring you down. I hope there will be something really special in your stocking this year.
Ho, Ho, Ho to all Batlings. Spike
Posted by: Spike at December 23, 2004 05:08 PMHappy Holidays Bat-girl and fam! I really enjoyed your site this past year. Thanks for all the good laughs.

Posted by: Mojo at December 23, 2004 06:22 PMPoints to whomever recognizes where the first three lines are stolen from!
Posted by: Jeb at December 23, 2004 07:13 PMUs Canadians are sad that Koskie left the Twin Cities too.....
Posted by: Jason at December 23, 2004 07:27 PMYes,,,its me Iwazzabadboy, still stalking/peeping after 7 months,,,great short film batgirl,,""sniffle"""sniffle"" But oh,,the memories!!! Everytime I drop a line down the hole fishing in the shanty Cory will be remembered. The 7 nights in Cancun next week should relieve some stress though....MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to the Bat family,,,members, readers,,,,,Iwazzabadboy
Posted by: Iwazzabadboy at December 23, 2004 08:15 PMWow! My heart aches for poor Jeb and Corey.
Merry Christmas to all the Batlings!!
Jeb, I think the first three lines were spoken by Charlie Brown in a Charlie Brown Christmas.
Merry Christmas!
Posted by: freealonzo at December 23, 2004 09:43 PMI laughed, I cried, it became a part of me.
Aw. :-(
Merry Christmas to the Batgirl family and all the Batlings and to the Minnesota Twins (current and former, dangit).
I'll probably get a bit melancholy myself on Christmas Day when I open one of my gifts-- my family got me a Guzman jersey after he signed with Washington when they were half off at the Pro Shops. I've never had an authentic jersey before, so that's cool, and Guzie was my fave player for at least a season . . . but . . . sigh.
JEB,
To quote from the Book of Sinatra:
"Love is lovelier, the second time around
Just as wonderful, with both feet on the ground
It’s that second time you hear your love song sung
Makes you think perhaps that love, like youth, is wasted on the young."
You'll find another.
Best, RD
I liked the film projector sound effect in the beginning. That was a nice touch.
Posted by: Silo at December 24, 2004 08:05 AMVery touching. Mrs in MN and I just watched Charlie Brown Christmas last night. But unfortunately someone has already beaten me to the correct answer.
Posted by: Craig in MN at December 24, 2004 08:42 AMDear Sooz,
Congratulations on keeping your man! How do you do it? Besides injuring him like Kathy Bates did to "Sonny" in that Stephen King movie. No, seriously, how do you do it? My boyfriends keep leaving me. What am I doing wrong?
Sincerely,
Eve
P.S. Merry Christmas! And a Happy New Year!
Posted by: Eve at December 24, 2004 12:12 PMHow can something be so funny and so sad at the same time?
Merry Xmas Batfamily, and all the 'Lings
Posted by: Soccerfan at December 24, 2004 01:09 PMI'm just wondering, did the projector sound clip come from the production studio tag at the end of the X-Files ("I Made This!")?
I just watched the episode "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas" the other day, an annual holiday tradition for me, so that sound is fresh in my mind, is all. I look forward to more Batgirl Films productions, but I hope the next one has a happier ending! :)
Posted by: frightwig at December 24, 2004 03:08 PMDear Jeb,
Merry Christmas wishes to you. Losing your love is never easy. You can always find support from your fellow Batlings who've lost their loves in the past...
And an awesome film. I smell an Oscar, for sure!
Merry Christmas to all in the Twins family--fans, players, former players who still have places in our hearts.

Oh, Jeb. All of us who have lost our boyfriends during this past year understand your pain as no one else can. I know it's hard for you to believe right now, but you will love again. Someday.
Please know that we're here for you and we have tissues.
RD, that was a lovely quote...
Merry Christmas, everybody!
Posted by: TwinsGoddess at December 25, 2004 04:18 PMDear TwinsGoddess,
I know a bit about these things and -- with your tissues, my purloined lyrics and the support of the BatCommunity -- I know we can make JEB whole again. Your kind words warm my heart on this Christmas Day.
Your's, RD
Posted by: RonDavis at December 25, 2004 07:03 PMBad Boy--
I'm going to Cancun too! I'm going on Wednesday!
Happy Hannakuh/Kwanzaa/Christmas/Winter Solstice/Festivus/Obscure Holiday of Your Choice to all Batlings.
Keep your head up, Jeb. Twins infielders are like buses. Keep an eye on the hot corner and another one will come along soon. Um... or something.
Posted by: mmmarkiep at December 28, 2004 02:45 PMI was thinking that the first few lines were lifted from a Zoloft commercial...
I love you all at team Batgirl. Happy New Year!
Posted by: Cari at December 28, 2004 04:41 PMThis may not be the right place, but...
Does anyone else feel weird that an enormous tragedy occurred killing tens of thousands of people (and threatening to kill tens of thousands more) and the US pledged to send $15 million in aid on the same day the Yankees were forced to pay $25 million in luxury tax? (The US has since upped its pledge to $35 million, but that's just the left half of the Yankee infield...for a year).
Something is wrong here. My beloved hockey is absent because the owners claim they collectively lose millions of dollars a year (can't find exactly how much right now) during each season. It would make me extremely happy if the owners split the difference between the amount of money they would have lost had the season been played and the money they actually lost from the cancellation of the season, and sent that money over for relief.
I dunno, something doesn't feel right.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year,
YankeeFan
Amen, my Yankee-lovin' brother...
Posted by: TwinsGoddess at December 29, 2004 08:48 AMIt's a mad world.
I would also suggest that the U.S. take, say, $1 billion of the billions and billions we are spending in Iraq and send it to Indonesia instead. I daresay Halliburton could scrimp along without it.
I found it a small comfort to go to the Doctors Without Borders website (there are many other suitable choices -- pick one) and make my little drop-in-the-bucket donation. (But then again, the filling of a bucket begins with the first drop... or something like that.)

P.S. Sorry for getting political. I promise I won't do it again.
Posted by: Word Smith at December 29, 2004 11:33 AMSmitty,
That's not political, that's compassionate.
Peace for the New Year, RD
