In case you missed Terry Tiffee's violent crash into Pudge "Immoveable Object" Rodriguez, we thought we would provide a reenactment for you, using our exclusive Legovision technology.
It's the 4th inning, and there's one out. Tiffee has just singled with Guzie on third and Cuddy on second. Third baseman Eric Munson makes a wild throw to first, and Tiffee ends up next to Munson on third.

With Jason Johnson pitching, and Tiffee at third, geriatric catcher Pat Borders steps up to the plate.

And here's the pitch!

Borders hits the ball...

…and Tiffee takes off!
Omar Infante fields...

...and throws to Pudge.
Pudge grabs the ball and sets...

...there's going to be a collison at the plate!
Tiffee barrels into Pudge…

…and bounces right off him.

Birdies! I see Birdies!

I don't feel so good.
We at Team Batgirl wish Mr. Tiffee a swift recovery.
Poor Terry. I hope he's ok. I was kind of growing fond of the litter bugger.
Posted by: The 7th Angel at September 13, 2004 10:49 PMSeparated shoulder, out 3 to 6 weeks, says the AP game recap. Not so boomie boomie. But sweeping the Tigers on the road is nice. The team is 6-0 since Old Terence died in Batgirl's arms last week, too. In memory of the fallen Tuffee, who knows what heights the team may reach this week?
An undefeated drive to clinch the division in front of the home fans? (I'm making a call!)
Posted by: frightwig at September 13, 2004 11:03 PMEven if the Twins win every game from here until the end of the homestand on Sunday, the Bitch Sox would still have to lose one game to Detroit this weekend. Not that I'm doubting that could happen. Actually, it sounds rather likely. And if we do win from here until Sunday, that does mean we clinch at least an AL Central tie, which is almost like clinching the division.
Posted by: FPM2K at September 14, 2004 12:22 AMScience is a harsh mistress. But does this prove that the immovable object beats the irresistable force, or that Tiffee is not an irresistable force? If the Twins are gonna put their players' lives at risk in the name of research, they should at least design their experiments to yield less ambiguous results.
Poor Terry. He must wish he'd been drafted by a less fiercely empiricist team, one that doesn't engage in mid-game scientific experiments for fun. Sure, with other teams, like Boston or New York or Chicago, he'd have to put up with all sorts of superstitious mumbo-jumbo and neopagan rituals, but at least he wouldn't be asked to put his life on the line to test Aristotelean hypotheses.
Posted by: arrScott at September 14, 2004 02:21 AMIt should have been Hunter! Now HE knows how to take out a catcher!
(Or maybe a guest appearance by Dustan Mohr...)
Posted by: Mimiru at September 14, 2004 03:13 AMSince some have said Tiffee is Corey's replacement (next yar? year after?) isn't only fitting that he get hurt and carry on the tradition at 3B?
Posted by: Jesse at September 14, 2004 07:06 AMMimiru, you are right, Torii does know how to take out a catcher, but Tiffee did his best impressions of both of his elders Hunter and Koskie. Obviously, the latter worked out more accurately than the former. Batgirl, it's Mr. Fuss, and thank you for the Legovision. It was an outpost of amusement in an otherwise dull day of school and work.
Posted by: HotFuss at September 14, 2004 07:38 AM"geriatric catcher Pat Borders"
Ouch.
Poor Pat, he just needs the comforting arms of a younger woman.
Posted by: She-Ra, P.O.P. at September 14, 2004 09:36 AMBatgirl, this is the funniest bit of writing I have seen in years. Aren't you wasting yourself doing a blog. Shouldn't you be writing books and stuff like that?
john r. tunis
Posted by: john r tunis at September 14, 2004 09:54 AMSorry to be such a poop, but it was the shortshop that made the throw to Ivan "the Hurricane Rodriguez." Tiffee didn't do much damage did he? The ball that foul tipped Ivan in the knee the other day at least put him out for the rest of the game.
Posted by: TW1NS at September 14, 2004 10:00 AMIf anything...he should've slid. It looks like Pudge was expecting the collision, and stayed standing right up until the end.
Tiffee may have made it had he slid. Or at least...he wouldn't be hurt.
Oh, and love the LEGO re-enactment. Gotta do that again tonight, specially since it'll be the same for every batter. Stand-up, take your pitches, sit-down.
Posted by: Torhu at September 14, 2004 10:14 AMYeah! another Batgirl Lego reneactment. Better than Sportcenter!
Posted by: Me at September 14, 2004 10:18 AMOuch! Poor Terry Tiffee. He certainly will not want to remember that encounter. Can Batgirl make sure he gets enough anti-deletrium?
Posted by: Steve at September 14, 2004 10:19 AMDo Lego arms detach?
Posted by: scarlic at September 14, 2004 10:23 AMTiffee will carry on the tradition of banged up 3rd basemen and i appauled that...Kahmann can keep up his monthly order of duct tape to keep our players pieced together...An ode to the the renisance festival...HA ZA..Terry Tiffee...Keep the traditon going.
Posted by: Bojangles Crain at September 14, 2004 10:32 AMDear mr. tunis,
They couldn't be as excellent as yours.
Love,
Batgirl
So, like, the doorbell rings this morning and there's Billy Joel, his car run up on the front lawn. And he's got a couple of the Ikettes out there, and maybe one of those Ludacris back-up babes, and they're singing...
Come out Terry Tiffee, don’t make us wait
You young third basemen dive way too late
But sooner or later it comes down to fate
You shouldn't have been the one
They showed you a baseball, appealed to your pride,
Newmie gave you a signal and told you to slide,
But they never told you the price that you pay,
For going in with a head-first dive....
Only the good dive young
That's what I said
Only the good dive young
Only the good dive young...
And then he was gone. Whew!
Re: Mr. Tunis
Yay! The afterlife has internet access.
Nice one RD!
You female batlings make me feel good. I have been accused of having very strange tastes in which women I find attractive. But after reading your posts the last few months I find that there are others whose likes are out of the mainstream. Cheers to the beholder's eye!
Posted by: Soccerfan at September 14, 2004 01:09 PMBatgirl,
I know that getting praise heaped upon you must be pretty run-of-the-mill by now, but I just have to say that your blog is so creative and hilarious that it almost makes me consider the possibility of perhaps rooting a tiny little bit for the Twins.
Go Yankees.
Cheers,
Jordan
Jordan, you are the poster child for a AA program for recovering yankee fans.
Posted by: Aho at September 14, 2004 02:30 PMReckless Twins baseball, ya gotta love it. I just wish they'd save some of it for the playoffs!
Posted by: Brundlefly at September 14, 2004 03:08 PMDearest Mr. Davis,
That is why you are universally beloved, and shall be through the ages.
Sincerely,
Bat "Uptown" Girl
The best part of LegoVision is that all the players have a smile on their face.
Posted by: James at September 14, 2004 03:46 PMbtw, there is a great pic on the Strib website of Tiffee right before the collision
Posted by: James at September 14, 2004 03:47 PMLike Jordan, I too feel compelled to read this site very day even though I am the farthest thing possible from a Twinkies fan.
Bitch Sox Pride.

Posted by: ilk at September 14, 2004 06:30 PMIn all the hilarity, and lusty distaff accolades, has anyone noticed that we are probably down a couple of third basemen plus a fabulous young catcher, heading into the playoffs?Of course, Luis Rivas will recover in time, which could be just as harmful.
Posted by: al at September 14, 2004 09:22 PMWell, that settles the question of whether the Twins would put Tiffee on the playoff roster, don't it?

Posted by: TexasTwin at September 14, 2004 10:20 PMSoccerfan,
Who are you saying has weird taste??? Joe Nathan is straight up hott.
Posted by: Donnalove at September 14, 2004 10:37 PMI'd like to pay Ilk his propers for his great sense of humor. He signed his comment above "Bitch Sox Pride." Leave it to Batgirl to attract (what must be the only two ; ) ) Sox fans with good senses of humor and sense of perspective, the other being the celebrated "Shoeless Joe."
Posted by: Jeb at September 14, 2004 11:43 PMThe third being the immortal "Sox Fan!"
Posted by: Goober at September 15, 2004 12:07 AMYeah, in fact it was ol'Shoeless Joe himself who pointed me in the direction of this place.
As the Wizard of Oz Guillen himself would say, "I tell you what, dees is some f---ing funny s--t."
