Written by Batgirl:
It's September now, and everyone knows what that means: new fall television line-ups. Oh, what wondrous shows have the network geniuses devised to scintillate us, to provoke us into being our best selves? Team Batgirl has eagerly surveyed the fall line-ups and discovered, to its surprise, that there are several Twins-related shows on the slate. Naturally, we are all a-quiver. Here are just a few:
DADDY OUTFIELD
Sitcom. Swinging bachelors and best friends Torii Hunter and Jacque Jones get the shock of their lives when they find a baby girl left on their doorstep one morning. Could this little lady steal their bachelor hearts? ABC, Tuesdays 7-7:30pm.
THE STARTER
Reality Show. "The Ultimate Major League Tryout." Donald Trump puts Carlos Silva, Kyle Lohse, and Terry Mulholland through weekly pitching-related tasks to determine who can possibly get over all his issues and step up for the playoffs. Who will become…The Starter? NBC, Thursdays, 8-9pm.
GRIN AND BEAR IT
Animated. The two Bear brothers, T.C. and Michael Cuddyer, live in the land of Dimples and go on magical adventures with their friends Mr. Horsie and Little Nicky Punto. Nickelodeon, Saturdays 7-7:30am.
MEDICAL INVESTIGATION: TWIN CITIES
Medical drama. In this hot new spin-off of a hot new show, we are taken to the medical hot zone of the Twins clubhouse, where trainer Jimmy Kahmann tries to identify and cure plagues of injuries among Twins players. NBC, Tuesdays, 9-10pm.
JUAN IN THE MORNING
Talk show. Juan Rincon discusses his thoughts on a variety of topics, including world events, movie reviews, and celebrity gossip. Cooking segments and guest interviews. Weekdays, syndicated. Check local listings.
Telemundo, Fridays, 10-11pm.
THE T.C.
Teen drama. Two handsome young singles, Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer, live and love in a ritzy Minneapolis condo complex in this steamy soap. Fox, Wednesdays, 9-10pm.
THAT'S SO LEW
Sitcom. Irrepressible eccentric Lew Ford joins a division-winning major league baseball team full of complacent veterans and shakes things up. Nothing is ever dull with Lew around! WB, Sundays 7:30pm.
JACQUE AND THE FATMAN
Crime Drama. District Attorney Matt LeCroy and his able assistant Jacque Jones prosecute criminals in Minneapolis. CBS, Wednesdays 8-9pm.
LITERATURA EN LA NOCHE
Late Night. Johan Santana dons a smoking jacket and reads masterworks of Spanish literature to you. The smoking jacket is all he'll be wearing. Showtime, Mondays 12-2am.
How could there be a cartoon without Mango Face?
Also, you forgot one other spin-off: "WKRAP in Chicago" The opening theme song is performed by Elton John. Care to guess what it might be?
By the end of the season they prove yet again that turkeys can't fly.
Posted by: futago at September 9, 2004 04:17 AMI now have the image of Supernatural on the mound in a smoking jacket telling people to sit down bitch with a classic of literature in his glove hand. Classic.

No Lumberjacking with Corey?
Posted by: Ironchef at September 9, 2004 08:17 AMNo late night "closing out the broadcast day" political discussion/variety show for Joe Nathan?
He's coming up on 40 saves...What does a guy have to do to get his own show?
Vice president and Bullpen Idol is not enough!! ;-D
Dear futago,
I think you must be thinking of "The Bitch is Back". I would be happy to offer my lyricist services to Elton to re-work the lyrics to fit in with the Chicago Bitch Sox theme. I doubt Bernie Taupin is very familiar with them, and we know Elton doesn't write lyrics very well.
bubblemint
That medical investigation show... would the first episode have something to do with maple leaves coming out of somebody's ass, mayhap?
What about "The Six-Million Dollar Canadian," about Corie Koskie and his bionic leg and arm and eyeball?
All of you interim posters have done a wonderful job. Thanks so much for picking up the slack in BatGirl's absence. I hope you'll forgive me when I say that I really, really can't wait until tomorrow...
Posted by: TwinsGoddess at September 9, 2004 09:14 AMGlad to know that even after the World Series is over I can still watch the Twins this fall.
A couple of comments about the commentators last night. I don't watch much baseball other than the Twins, but is that really the only announcing team ESPN had available? Those guys were pretty bad. I give them credit for knowing who the Twins players were and being able to announce the names right. They certainly knew baseball, but they were not very fun/exciting. I lost track of how many times they appoligized for not showing the Yankees (rolls eyes). Like the baseball world had to suffer watching Santana. I also noticed and than got annoyed by the use of the word "huh." They would make a statement and than add "huh" to the end to try to spark conversation.
Tejada is having a great year, he is tied for the league lead with 122 RBIs huh.
Santana has not lost a game since the all-star break, he has 9 wins and no losses huh.
They weren't really questions but were meant to spark conversation. I unfortunately noticed it early than could not unnotice it (like my co-worker who plays with the zipper on his pants) and it became annoying.
Cheers to have Dick and Bert! Last night made me appreciate them more!
I wonder what Jacque & Torii's wives think of their new show ...
Posted by: hmmm at September 9, 2004 10:59 AMre: "comments about the commentators"
turn off the sound on the tube and put on some good music. less stress than listening to people who know less about what they're talking about than you do, and much more high quality listening pleasure than anything the announcers might mouth. vinny and jon miller the lone exceptions gone national to date.
Posted by: Hart at September 9, 2004 01:27 PMI actually make a guest appearance in "The T.C." There's this complicated love issue between Mauer and myself and Morneau. In the end I chose Morneau (sorry to ruin the ending everyone!)
Posted by: ForMorneau at September 9, 2004 01:46 PMMichael Reghi is an Orioles announcer, usually paired with Jim Palmer when I lived there 4-5 years ago, and probably is still. So apparently that's what Buck Martinez does now: flies into a city for covert alternate ESPN broadcasts and, like Chuck Berry and el diablo, works with local pick-up groups for the show.
A couple questions about the Fall lineup: I'm sure we can expect Corey Koskie to be a hospital regular on the medical drama, but will it also feature Dr. Morneau--or is he tied up with his steamy soap on Fox? Also, will the morning show be featuring regular cooking segments involving blue cereal?
I love the idea of Johan's late night show, but I notice the conspicuous absence of Mr. Rad from the schedule. Maybe he could get a little something on TLC or the Discovery Channel?
And speaking of Johan reading: during that radio spot in which Johan gives testimonial to how reading helped him learn English, am I the only one who wonders why Bert sounds like he's the guy who learned English as a second language, and could probably use a good instructional reading program himself?
Welcome back, Batgirl.
Posted by: frightwig at September 9, 2004 03:20 PMDear Frightwig -
"Also, will the morning show be featuring regular cooking segments involving blue cereal?"
Made me laugh way too loud in my cube - I must be in a very giggly mood - I'm still giggling
If Boo is in need of a spunky side-kick or roving reporter I will happily volunteer my services.
Speaking of Boo - great article about him on the Twins Home Page - props for Boo - finally =)
Anyway my point was - I'm sure this is just a small preview of the fall line-up - there are always mid season replacements - and shows that start after the World Series
Have a Faboolous Day
Much Peace -
Wonder Woman
PS - Hi Batgirl - I hope Newfoundland was kind to you and the gospel according to Batgirl was well received.
Heh Bat-Girl,
This blog has been very, very good to me but never better then when the "real deal" returns. Have to laugh and enjoy it... thanks. tWINs.
The O's canned Reghi this year. That is one of the few good moves they've made in the last several years.
thanks B-Girl, for another humorous effort.
Posted by: Dingbat Charlie at September 9, 2004 04:48 PMThe TC. Classic. Welcome back, Batgirl.
Posted by: Sam at September 9, 2004 05:59 PMGreat TV shows. Just don't forget to adjust the schedule a half-hour for Newfoundland time.
Posted by: The Commish at September 9, 2004 07:07 PMForMorneau,
I also appear in The T.C. and get together with Mauer. I guess we're kind of related now, lol

Mr. Rad will actually have an art show on PBS:
"RAD-i-Kal Masterpiece!"
Artisically appreciative,

Posted by: el diablo at September 10, 2004 02:25 AMThat's right, I forgot about his paint-astic hobby. Bob Ross had his "happy little clouds." What would be Rad's trademark?
