Lots of boyfriend-worthy performances today, from Cordel Koskie's barbaric yawp to Torii Hunter's homer, baserunning, and fielding, to Lew Ford's timely single to Guzie's single/sac fly combo, and of course there's Terence John's second heroic bakbal performance in a row.
But Team Batgirl has a very exciting announcement. After much contemplation, and after looking deep into his heart, after searching his feelings, Goober has selected his new boyfriend...one Justin Morneau. Yes, Morneau has taken from Dougie his position, his condo lease, and also Goober's heart.

Goober and Morneau making the announcement at a pre-game press conference.
And in honor of that, as well as Morneau's 4th inning shot that was only a few moose antlers shy of his usual spot deep in the second deck, you, Justin Morneau, are the Boyfriend of the Day.
Field/Readers 16, Corey/Jeb 12, Dr. Morneau/Goober 9, Shannon/Sooz 9, Joe/Batgirl 6.
Posted by Batgirl at August 21, 2004 03:10 PMMy heart is still heavy, but I have to move on. Now it's going to be a fight for intra-Canada supremacy!
Posted by: Goober at August 21, 2004 03:48 PMI was sitting in my usual section 215 at today's game (best $6.00 seat in any major league sport). And I could swear the the Doctor's homer flew OVER a loudspeaker on its way to the blue plastic of the Dumptydome.
Honestly, I thought it was going to hit the speaker. It may have still been rising. Then, on its downward decent, I saw the ball on the other side of the hanging hi-fi gear. It was falling quickly, and didn't have much forward momentum left. For a moment, I feared it might be a warnong track shot. But my fears were unfounded. For the Doctor is mighty.
Can anyone confirm if the TV cameras caught what my eyes told my brain to remember?
Posted by: boomer at August 21, 2004 04:49 PMIt's about time we had Justin in the line up every day. That guy has some major power. He brings runs with him to every game. Welcome home, JM.
Posted by: rods107 at August 21, 2004 07:17 PMIt really is a shame that the Big Inflatable Toilet has a roof on it. It would be cool to see if the good Doctor's homeruns could clear the IDS Tower. I think todays would have come preaty close. A lack of roof would also allow fans in Stillwater and Western Wisconsin a chance for a souvenier every 12 at bats or so.
