It seems Santana/Nathan merchandise is already appearing in the Dome. Batgirl is all a-quiver. Please tell her of sightings. Soon, we will take over the world! All will hear our message of love and peace and making the bitches sit down!
Batgirl's merch is due to arrive today.

Unfortunately, my batgirl shirt won't make it to the dome for a while, but coincidence--you make the call:
bat-shirt arrives=Twins beat Yankees
bat-shirt worn=Twins beat Yankees
Bat shirt will be worn again today.
Posted by: Sandee at August 19, 2004 11:29 AMI am the same as Sandee: arrival = win, wearing = win. I wore mine in the left field GA section last night.
Posted by: The 7th Angel at August 19, 2004 11:55 AMI received my buttons a few days ago and proudly wore mine to last night's game. I got some positive comments ("I'd vote for that ticket," said one Dome employee), but I spotted no other campaign merchandise. I suppose it will be much more obvious when the shirts start appearing.
Posted by: Andre at August 19, 2004 12:09 PMAlas, my buttons appear to have been loaded onto the slowest UPS truck EVER, since I ordered the day after the merchandise site came out, but UPS (yoUr Package Slowly?) says the package won't get here until next Wednesday. :P
It will, however, be making many appearances in the Dome once it arrives!
Posted by: infield at August 19, 2004 12:49 PMYou know how great the Twins are?
I'm an expatriate Minnesotan whose next visit to the North Star State (or "l'etat du nord," as the state motto ought to read) will come no sooner than 2005. I know just how truly miserable a place the Metrodome is to watch a baseball game. Not only is it the worst baseball stadium there is, it's the worst baseball stadium that could be. Until civil engineers figure out how to obstruct views in five dimensions, the Metrodome is as bad as it gets. It's like watching the game in your own living room, except less comfortable, and the view isn't as good.
And yet the accounts here of fans attending games at the Metrodome fill me with searingly intense envy. Gosh but I wish I could head on over to the Dome to sit my butt down on some hard plastic pointing in the general direction of nowhere in particular and strain my neck to watch indoor baseball, with all its requisite horrors of office-cubicle lighting, shag carpeting, and sack-lined walls. The Twins have me longing, pining even, to go to the Metrodome. And THAT, my friends, is just how great the Twins are.
Posted by: arrScott at August 19, 2004 01:10 PMBatgirl--
Would it be possible to get a Santana/Nathan bumper sticker with "Sit down, bitch" on it?
My merch was supposed to come yesterday, and now my tracking order says it won't come until Monday. When the UPS truck stops by Batgirl's house, can she please tell them to hurry Stacy her stuff?
Posted by: Stacy at August 19, 2004 01:52 PMI don't know if everyone should blame UPS and/or CafePress for the delays....how could they expect the overwhelming increase in business that resulted the introduction of BatMerchandise? It is an unprecedented product rollout, the impact of which no one could have forseen. I think we all must just make due until the powerful machinery of the American economy can react to unanticipated increase in demand. I am sure CafePress is ordering freighters full of extra materials and UPS is buying new planes and trucks as we speak. BatGirl is not only a Twins fan, she's good for the economy. In the mean time, we must all be patient.
Posted by: Craig in MN at August 19, 2004 03:03 PMAndre mentions that a dome employee responded favorably to his Santana/Nathan button, which awakens me to the smell of another promotional opportunity. If Batgirl, Inc. cares to expand on the idea of sending complimentary merch to the Twins' on-air guys, let me suggest that a box of buttons might be distributed amongst the ushers as well.
If you go to the games a lot, you've probably noticed that most of the section entrances are usually guarded by the same elderly person, game after game. If many of them were wearing a Santana/Nathan button, that seems like a steady line of potential advertising for the Batgirl site and merch the rest of the season.
Just a thought. I mean, I have no idea how vast this operation may be, or how much free stuff the company can afford to give away or how much $$$ it might expect to get back in increased sales.
I have a button and sticker on the way. So starting next week, if anyone sees a Santana/Nathan '04 blue sticker on the bumper of a green Ford Focus hatchback driving around the Twin Cities: honk! It may be me.
Posted by: frightwig at August 19, 2004 03:34 PMAwesome. I'll be at the game tonight and my eyes will be Bat-peeled...
Posted by: mskeen at August 19, 2004 03:53 PMBaseball approved plans for a World Cup today.
I am psyched!
USA, CAN (whose Olympians are an awesome 4-0 in the prelims), Venezuela, Dominican R, Cuba, Japan, Australia.
Can you root for everybody? I'll be getting the TV package for sure.
If anyone sees an off-white 80's-something refridgeration unit sassily sporting a campaign magnet: honk! It might be mine!
Posted by: She-Ra, P.O.P. at August 19, 2004 04:52 PMI'd like to see girls compete with the boys in international baseball in the future since at this point, every game the US softball team has played has ended with the "mercy" rule.
I think that if we start 'em young, we can get co-ed baseball teams in the future, which is what I really want to see.
Posted by: Mimiru at August 19, 2004 06:52 PMBatgirl's stuff was delayed as well. Tragic. And I love the idea of giving things to Metrodome employees; sadly Batgirl has to pay for these things like everyone else.
Posted by: Batgirl at August 19, 2004 08:32 PMI'm not voting if Nathan is on the ticket. Just kidding of course.
Posted by: Kj at August 19, 2004 11:11 PMI was in the right field bleachers today proudly wearing my shirt! I got some positive comments and the occasional quizzical look.
I kept hoping to see another, but alas!
Anyone going Sunday?

My daughter spotted a Santana/Nathan bumper sticker yesterday, saying, " Dad there's someone voting for the Twins for President too. They have the same bumper sticker".(I'm so proud of her)
But Alas, we could not get in front of them to show our sticker support.
Posted by: ketut at August 20, 2004 10:26 AMWow, amazing!
Posted by: Batgirl at August 20, 2004 11:39 AMBatgirl, do you know how many stickers, buttons, shirts, etc. you have sold so far?
Posted by: frightwig at August 20, 2004 02:43 PMDearest Mr. Wig,
Complicated to total, but we have sold a good number. Somebody wrote to suggest we make it Santana/Nathan night at the dome one night. I like it!
Sincerely,
Batgirl
Santana/Nathan night sounds good to me. Course it has to be on TV and when Johan is starting. :P
Posted by: jayster at August 20, 2004 03:15 PMBatgirl,
Did you have to get Players Association approval for the BatMerchandise? If so, was that a difficult or costly process? If not, will BatGirls team of lawyers soon be working overtime?
Curiously,
Florida
-Devoted Batling
Wouldn't the Players Association lawyers have to PROVE that the campaign merch is actually referring to JOE Nathan and JOHAN Santana? "Santana/Nathan"... that could ANYBODY, right? I see no Twins logos or trademarks, either; and that the red, white & blue colors match the uniforms of our favorite team while also representing AMERICA is just a happy coincidence!
