Just Say No

Justin Morneau seems to be growing a goatee. Perhaps Justin Morneau thinks it will make him look less like a very muscular child when he comes to bat. But studies have shown goatees on man-children look extremely silly. Call Justin Morneau and ask him to stop promoting excessive facial hair on barely post-pubescent ballplayers.

Bat-girl,

I need to see some examples of facial hair on our man-child 1st baseman, at least to support your cause. That, and maybe a 'What would the Doctor look like if he sported a... handlebar moustache'.

It would be interesting to see if his facial hair has curls too.

Faithfully yours,
Simsypoo

I (and the management of my favorite major league baseball team) support you in this most noble of causes... :)

I can envision the Dr. waking up this morning and reading BatGirl and thinking. "Woot! I only stopped shaving on the first of the month and already someone noticed!"

Think he's trying a Dougie?

Here in Toronto we have our own goateed man-child, Chris Woodward. Please make Justin stop before he looks like a garden gnome. Look for yourselves! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6244

The goatee has become the facial mullet.

A-men sistah!

When, when, WHEN will they learn? Goatees don't look good on ANYONE! EVER!!

I actually think JC looks a lot better with his goatee than the little triangle thing he used to have. That triangle-looking beard thing didn't help him much. Come to think of it, Kyle Lohse is where his facial hair like that now. Maybe he should stop and something magical will happen to help him win.

Eric Dolphy, Dizzy Gillespie, and Thelonious Monk all were the essence of hip style while sporting a goatee. Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell, too. Magic Johnson never looked quite right without his, either. Perhaps it's a rhythm thing? Or maybe it's just one of those elements of Afro-American style that looks ridiculous when the white man tries to cop it.

For what it's worth, if he keeps crushing the ball like he did today, I don't care if he grows dreadlocks and a handlebar. Keep on keepin' on, big guy.
