I'm in BatHeaven.

What! No BatKitty collars?!? Kitty,P.O.P will be mighty disappointed.

Well done, BatCrew!!

Posted by: She-Ra, P.O.P at August 5, 2004 03:36 PM

That is awesome! Let me get some money together and I'll make an order soon. As some may remember, I rediscovered baseball this spring as a way to leave politics behind. This shirt ("Starting and Closing") will be perfect for that change in me.

I almost want to get 100+ stickers and go down to the lawn at the U in October and tell everybody to vote for Santana for President. "No one can pitch better than him," I'd say. "And if he has to leave the mound, no one is more capable of finishing out has term than Nathan."

Posted by: amr at August 5, 2004 03:37 PM

YES!!! Finally a tshirt worth purchasing. And, be still my heart. A lunchbox????? You are genius.
August 17th I make my return to Minnesota, and you can bet your butts I'll be wearing my Santana/Nathan : Sit Down, Bitch! Tshirt to the Twins/Yankees game!!! Now THAT oughta get me circled by Bert, eh?

Long live Batgirl!

Posted by: Meghan at August 5, 2004 03:41 PM

Fabulous!! Just Fabulous!!
I'm getting a new lunch box - since I am to old to qualify for the one the Twins are giving away during back to school weekend - hey us big kids bring lunch to work too!!
And now I have to get a new dog and get the dog shirt -
I'm just giddy with excitement!

Thanks Bat-girl crew!

Posted by: Wonder Woman at August 5, 2004 03:43 PM

I too am going to the Yankees game on the 17th. I wonder if the security guard that looks like Tom Berringer out in left will let me wear it.

Posted by: The 7th Angel at August 5, 2004 03:47 PM

Dear Angel,

THat guy rules. We should give him one.

Sincerely,
Batgirl

p.s. There are shirts with the "Sit Down, Bitch" slogan and shirts with "Starting and Closing...for America" should people not want the words, well, "Sit Down, Bitch" emblazoned on their chests.

Posted by: Batgirl at August 5, 2004 03:53 PM

Dear Angel-

We could take him. We'll just be like...

"You say we can't wear them? Sit down, Bitch!!"

I shall be in left field as well...well, probably center. I like to get as close to Torii's butt as I can....

Sincerely,
Meghan

Posted by: Meghan at August 5, 2004 03:56 PM

Stupendous wares, my dear bat-girl. I at least need a hat, we'll see what else.

Yours in commerce,

Skorch

Posted by: Skorch at August 5, 2004 03:58 PM

BatGirl, that merchandise is great. My buddies and I will make sure to help the Santana/Nathan campaign go strong through the year.

Posted by: Will at August 5, 2004 04:03 PM

Batgirl,
I... I just... I just wanted to say thanks. Not only will I have a t-shirt to replace my Doug Mientkiewicz player t-shirt (be strong, it was for the best...), but we can always identify other BatCommunity members at games (many of which I will be attending in my triumphant return to Minnesota from California in 3 weeks). Brilliant.

Sure, Terry sucked today, but Kyle didn't lose yesterday, and the ways of the baseball gods are just and mysterious. kyle needs as much confidence as possible, and terry will be fine, so it'll be fine. and really, neither one of them will pitch in the postseason if we happen to get there (3-man rotations...wonderful), so no reason to fear.

Posted by: Chris at August 5, 2004 04:04 PM

Dear Chris

What part of California were YOU banished to?? It looks like everyone's is making their way to the homeland.

Inquiringly,
Meghan

Posted by: Meghan at August 5, 2004 04:11 PM

First of all, your merchandise is generally breathtaking, and is fine work. In my neck of the woods, however, there has been some call for a particular conflation of your wares: A Santana/Nathan logo on the jersey-style shirt would sell like Domedogs on $1 day, at least among the in-my-folks'-basement demographic.

Thanks

Posted by: AT at August 5, 2004 04:12 PM

Dearest Mr/Ms T.,

While Batgirl can only do one type of image on any given style, she can certainly change the baseball shirt and put up the Batgirl one later. Would you prefer the loftier "Starting and Closing...for America?" or the pithier "Sit Down, Bitch!"?

Sincerely,
Batgirl

Posted by: Batgirl at August 5, 2004 04:17 PM

Hello Batgirl,

I am in awe of your style and will proudly wear my new t-shirt just as soon as it arrives...

Posted by: Ellen at August 5, 2004 04:28 PM

Can't wait for "Sit down, Bitch" apparel to make its debut in a hiphop video! I'll be watching 106 & Park and reporting back. Bravo!!

Posted by: RonDavis at August 5, 2004 04:43 PM

Dear Batgirl,

Would it be possible to also have bumper stickers, the oval auto stickers, buttons & magnets with the 'Santana Nathan 04 "Starting and Closing for America" and/or "Sit Down Bitch" slogans available on them, or are they limiting that option too?

Anticipatorily yours,
bubblemint

Posted by: bubblemint at August 5, 2004 04:55 PM

My experience in infiltration has led me to believe that wearing a second decoy shirt will prevent me from getting any guff from security for the "Sit Down, Bitch!" on my chest.

Also -- bummer, Batgirl had the opportunity to use my tickets on Saturday but declined. There goes my brush with fame.

Posted by: Roscoe at August 5, 2004 05:03 PM

Dearest Ms. Mint,

Batgirl has added some "rectangular" stickers with the slogan. She will work on the buttons and bumper stickers this weekend. (They will have to replace the original design, but people may like them better.)

Sincerely,
Batgirl

p.s. Dear Roscoe, declining tickets to see Johan Santana breaks a gir'ls heart, but Batgirl has a wedding. Like that's more important!

Posted by: Batgirl at August 5, 2004 05:05 PM

Dearest Batgirl,

Rumor has it one of the Twins players asked Stacy to marry him...will Batgirl attend that wedding? We plan to promote the Santana/Nathan ticket throughout.

Engagingly Yours,
Stacy

Posted by: Stacy at August 5, 2004 05:11 PM

Oh. My. God. Bat-merchandise! I'm definitely up for a bumper sticker and probably for a tee-shirt

Posted by: Andrew at August 5, 2004 05:11 PM

Speaking of weddings, I'm guessing that the Santana/Nathan platform is pro-marriage, at least in terms of wedding Bitch Sox asses to the rough, splintery pine of the dome's visitors dugout bench.

Posted by: Roscoe at August 5, 2004 05:19 PM

As a student in DC, I'm not looking forward to going back to the negativity that is a college campus during an election (and of course being 1500 mi away when the Twins make their playoff run). Plus, now I don't have to worry about starting any fights by saying I'm endorsing the wrong candidate. And if anyone objects to my choice or tries to sell their candidate to me I can respond with a short, persuasive argument- "Sit down Bitch".

Posted by: tbird41 at August 5, 2004 05:40 PM

Ohhhhhhhhhhh...I'm guessing visual aids are ALWAYS a good idea when one is surrounded by Bitch Sox fans. While I'll have to wear mine to Twins-absentia Sox spring training games in Arizona, the ones who get it, will get it...the ones who don't can read the back and take the journey to enlightenment.

I'll also be sporting it to upcoming games at The Jake (vs Yankees) and PNC. It's a beautiful thing.

I predict Malcolm Gladwell will have to update his next edition of "The Tipping Point" with Batgirl starring as the "Connector" and the members of the Bat Community as "Mavens" to explain the Twins ticket that...uhhhh...came out of left field (!) to shock the 2004 National Election! (cue confetti)

Posted by: BATbandwagoner at August 5, 2004 06:26 PM

Dear Wonder Woman,

You are never too old. I received a children's book on one of the 14 & under "Every Book Counts" days. Just wear a hat and pigtails.

Posted by: Donnalove at August 5, 2004 06:28 PM

Batgirl,
"Starting and closing...for America" I love it, the best slogan I've heard so far in this election season. The Florida household will proudly convey this message to every voter that we can, especially to the ever so misguided Yankee fan.

PS. Can I make Joe Nathan my new B.O.D. or do I need to choose someone that plays more often.
Mrs. Florida

Dude, I just have to say, this is the coolest thing to happen today or any day. I mean, Batgirl apparel. Could this world get any better? Heck no! Santana/Nathan '04 it is!!!

A shout out to Batgirl on ESPN.com!

Posted by: Roscoe at August 5, 2004 10:01 PM

Dear Donnalove -
I may have to try that - thou I do not look very good in a hat but people say that I look younget than I actually am -
Hmm - does it depend on what gate you enter and if the people that are handing out the items are male or female???
Yours Wonder Woman

Posted by: Wonder Woman at August 5, 2004 10:03 PM

Two things about the game on the 17th:

1)Who's starting?
2)Does anyone know where to get a Lew jersey? Does the pro shop have them?

Posted by: The 7th Angel at August 5, 2004 11:03 PM

Love the "Santana - Nathan '04" stuff! It's brilliant. Seriously, the Twins marketing folks should be embarrassed for not thinking of that themselves. Good work!

Posted by: BadAndy48 at August 5, 2004 11:27 PM

I am so buying a bumper sticker. I'd buy a shirt, but there's no way I'd be able to afford it. Yay college!

Posted by: IcePhoenix at August 5, 2004 11:41 PM

Nice work, Batgirl.

This may seem a bit premature, but with the Bitch Sox losing tonight, the Twins' magic number is 51.

Posted by: schwebbs75 at August 5, 2004 11:46 PM

Let me suggest that Batgirl might send complimentary campaign buttons to Bert, Dick, and Clay. We know Bert likes irreverent stuff, and even better if it's free; it would give Clay a reason to do another feature spot, which seems to make Batgirl happy; and we wouldn't want Dick to feel left out (just be sure to send him a "clean" version). If just one of those guys shows or at least mentions the merch on-air, your sales should go through the roof.

Oh, and maybe you could get the GameDay people working with you, too.

I'd love to see this stuff all over the Twin Cities through the rest of the Summer and Fall. I can hardly wait for my first sighting.

Posted by: frightwig at August 5, 2004 11:49 PM

Batgirl,

Thank you for your prompt and courteous response to my request. This basement has spoken, and "Sit Down, Bitch!" is the clear victor. "Sit Down, Bitch!" on a jersey-style T will revolutionize this corner of the MN prairie, as well as certain portions of southern Connecticut.

At this rate, my brother's softball team may need to change their official attire...

Oh, and related to Roscoe's post on the Neel's ESPN article, at the very end Neel asks for suggestions for nicknames for Johan. Such an opportunity ought not be missed by Batgirl's readership.

There is a link for suggestions at the bottom of the page Roscoe posted (repeated below for convenience)

IcePhoenix has a few things to say.

First off, Ice will be granting if he can find the time tomorrow, because he is going to saturday's game, and intends to ruin an old bedsheet with the Santana/Nathan in '04 and hang it from the concourse. With luck, it will make it to national TV, as the game is on FOX.

Secondly, Ice is currently planning on attending the Wednesday game against the Yankees, which, coincidentally will have Johan pitching (thanks Brad!). Ice hopes to have a shirt to wear to that game, if he can do enough odd jobs to make moneys.

Thirdly, this is seriously a wtf moment:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/poweralley?season=2004&week=18
Last week the Twins were 5th. They went 4-2 against the Red Sox and Angels, yet fell down 2 spots. I suppose the braves can have a case made for them, but why in the name of all things holy are the Red Sox still ahead of us?

Fourthly, one of Ice's friends suggested that he request a bumper sticker for being the first to suggest Nathan as Johan's running mate. Ice does not expect this, but said he would do so anyways.

Fifthy, if you're wondering what's all about the third-person typing, Ice tends to do this when he's tired and has NO CLUE as to why.

Granting frightwig's wish*

Posted by: IcePhoenix at August 6, 2004 02:21 AM

Does BatGirl ship her merchandise to Switzerland? Can't wait to put the sticker on my car over here and confuse the hell out of the Swiss.

Posted by: Anita at August 6, 2004 08:40 AM

One more thing: if you made clothing for the smaller set (eg, my two rugrats), it would sell like hotcakes. I would send a "Santana/Nathan" to every new baby I know.

Posted by: Anita at August 6, 2004 08:41 AM

Dear Batgirl!

I will now proudly wear my "sit down, bitch" t-shirt whenever i go to Comisky and make fun of the bitch sox!! you need to put the bitch sox shirt idea on here too!

Posted by: Liz at August 6, 2004 09:20 AM

Just a comment to Anita. Bat-Girl clothing on infants is cute. 'Sit Down Bitch' clothing on infants is not.

Posted by: Craig in Mn at August 6, 2004 09:22 AM

if you did a bitch-sox shirt you'd have to put the final division standings for the last 2 yrs on it...

Posted by: dregn at August 6, 2004 09:29 AM

Well, i did post a bitch sox shirt awhile ago.. perhaps we can add to it...

Dearest Ms. Anita,

Your request has been granted.

Love,
Batgirl

Dearest Mr. T,

As has yours. Batgirl has figured out a way around the problem.

Love,
Batgirl

Dearest Ms. Mint,
Yours may take a little longer as they require new art, but I hope to take care of it this weekend.

Love,
Batgirl

Dearest Mr. Phoenix,

As for the bedsheet, that is marvelous.

Dear Batgirl,

I am attending the game here in Seattle on Thursday (which Santana should be starting) and would love to proudly wear my Santana/Nathan '04 shirt (although I must be careful, Seattle is the town that made people take off their "Yankee's Suck" T-Shirts, I don't think Sit Down Bitch will go over well). I was just wondering if there was a way to get 2nd day delivery or something since I am all the way out here in Washington.

Thanks

Posted by: RsmithX at August 6, 2004 01:22 PM

Wonder Woman,

I am frequently mistaken for being extremely young (today someone asked if I was in high school, which could be ok, since a senior in high school isn't that much younger than I am) so I don't know what sort of person would be good to target.
I guess they thought BoyfriendLove was my... father??? Good lord.

Posted by: Donnalove at August 6, 2004 01:23 PM

Dear Mr. X,

The CafePress site does seem to allow second day delivery! The truth is out there.

Sincerely,
Batgirl

Posted by: Batgirl at August 6, 2004 01:36 PM

Dear Donnalove -

I see- well since I am far removed from being mistaken for a high schooler, usually I get mistaken for a 26 year old which is quite flattering since I'm 36- I think I will have to find another way to get the fabulous Twins lunch box ;-) - yes I'm still a kid at heart

Have a fantabulous weekend!

Posted by: Wonder Woman at August 6, 2004 02:33 PM

Batgirl,

You know, you're very talented at coming up with nicknames and creative sayings. I wouldn't mind seeing some of those on apparel sometime soon. Keep up the good work, the Santana/Nathan stuff is AWESOME.

Megan

Dear Mrs. Florida,

Joe Nathan is my new boyfriend. However, if you should decide you can love no other, I would be willing to share.

Dear Batgirl,

You are a doll. I eagerly await the new designs and shall place an order next week.
